Hey y'all I'm building a bicycle and saving some cash to start an epic bike ride from Central California to South America. I have no end goal in mind, I just want to hit the road and stay vegan while seeking out the best fruit along the way. Ideally I want to keep touring around the world for years to come and spread the vegan message. I'd like to volunteer/work on fruit farms along the way and connect with other vegans and fruitheads. I'm thinking about documenting the experience on youtube or some other social media but we'll see how that goes, I'm pretty techno-phobic but I'm starting to change my views on the subject. After following Freelea and Durianrider on youtube I've realized that the internet is one of the best places to spread the vegan message and connect with like-minded people. I'm looking for all the help, tips and advice I can get. A lot of people are telling me that I'll be robbed, killed or forced to eat animal products along the way but I'm not buying into that propaganda. I plan on riding a moutain-bike frame that I'm currently working on and pulling a one wheel BOB trailer. Hopefully I can fit a whole banana box on it :) . I'll be camping out mostly unless I'm invited to stay with kind folks or give in to a cheap motel. I have not much money at the moment and am technically homeless. A big challenge will be raising the funds and continuing to fund the journey along the way while being able to purchase quality fruit. Thanks everyone and I'm so stoked to join the 30BAD community!

  • This is awesome, I've always wanted to see what South America is like for cycling, especially Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile, ect. please document the shit out of this, I also recommend using a Kickstarter crowd funding website for some good cams and maybe even a laptop first. Shouldn't be hard to raise a thousand or two pretty quickly. Either way will you let me keep in touch with you?
    • Yeah I was thinking about Kickstarter and Gofundme.

Totally keep in touch, Email: Nicholas.maiolo511@gmail.com

  • Wish you well on the planning and details... are you coming from the SF bay area by chance?

    • I'm building the bicycle in Davis, CA! When I start the trip SF will be my first stop and I'll be heading down highway 1 and hitting every farmers market.
