Chat has moved

Hey all :) The chat has moved from the bottom middle of the page to a bar across the bottom of the website, take a look (it pops up into a big window if you like)...

 

We are hoping to speed up loading time off 30BaD, seeing 91% of sites are faster than ours to load (which isn't good for google ratings).

 

Please feel free to take part in the chatroom, it really can be fun! Just please keep in mind that this is a family site and we expect you to conduct yourself in an appropriate manner. Swearing and inappropriate sexual discussion (which has been popular of late) is not in line with the guidelines and may lead to your suspension.  The chatroom is constantly kept an eye on by the Peacekeepers so please keep it clean and productive!

    I having trouble finding the chat bar. I have tried looking all over the place for it (on the "Home" page, right?") and I don't see anything that says chat!

    Can someone help me out?

      If you see Ryan's post below, it's semi-correct (I suppose that depends on each personal computer? Not sure)

       

      When I followed Ryan's suggestion, there was no "30 Bananas A Day! Chat" link at the bottom of my page.

       

      You may have to click on the person icon with the dot beside it. When I did that, then the option of chat showed up; otherwise, there was no option for me if I didn't do that.

       

      Hope this helps.

        Thanks.  Turns out that the chat feature doesn't work in Google Chrome for me, but it works in Mozilla Firefox.

    Its interesting because alexa.com says 91% of sites are faster to load and it will affect google rankings but I can't imagine taking anything off the homepage. Glad to hear its fast for a few of you. Im on dial up right now so its pretty bad but so is every site.

      Those are only minimal differences. 30bad takes 7.2 seconds while other may take 6 or 5. Givittomeraw takes 6. And then there are all those super small pages with only a simple script one logo and text which are super fast.

      I don't think you can do more about it. Maybe check how large is the banana picture on top and the logo.

      I actually had a look now at all components' load time and two widgets take loads to load - Amazon and chipin.

        I actually recently reduced the header and logo size by a lot. Hopefully it helped out some on load time. In the least it makes it more screen-friendly.

    yeah I've never had problem with page loading, find it comparable to most any other site I frequent.

      well, my internet speed here is 400-600k :) You guys probably have something closer to 20 or 50 Mb.

      This page can take 15-20 seconds to load sometimes. With a normal connection speed it is just above 7 seconds.

      I think the main concern here is Google and their robots who prefer it fast.
