  • No fat in coco water? Really?

    • Yup! Isn't it great? :-) J x

  • I thought coconut water was loaded with fat. I should have looked it up earlier. I love it.

    • Yeah me too till I looked it up the other day! :-)

  • Love it! drink myself sick on it when I get the chance!

    • Here in Costa Rica, you can't drink the water from the tap in most locations, so we buy 60-70 young coconuts a week here (40 cents each) and drink tons of it (mostly throw the meat away since it is pretty fatty, the Ticos do the same by the way). We just found some bamboo straws to avoid plastic straws. I don't feel it is laxative at all... Be careful if you buy the ones that have been shaved (and have a pointy head), since most of them have been transported in water containing formaldehyde to preserve them... I honestly would only drink them in countries where they grow and where you can buy them whole...

      • Oh no! Really??? That sucks.. They are the only ones we get here in the supermarkets.. Do you think that the transport water gets into the coconut water through the shell and everything??

          • Thanks so much for these links!

I had a good read and it looks as though the toxic water does not seep into the coconut but then how can we be certain? I guess unless a more conclusive study is performed/found then we all have to make up our own minds - I do wish I lived near some coconut trees though!! You are lucky to have them at hand!

We are all in the same dilemma about the water.. In Australia it looks clean but is becoming more and more deadly for long-term use, with Chlorine, Fluoride and now even Ammonia! I have not drunk tap water for at least 6 months now, we buy Noble's Pureau which I think is distilled but claims to be 100% free of fluoride and chlorine and other chemicals and have BPA-free packaging.. but we still have to get around to filtering our shower water somehow.. we can only do our best! J x

            • Yes, this is very true: we can only do our best, especially when it comes to shower water!!

We got a Santevia water filter and I think it is one of the best option out there! Much better than bottled water and it cleans your water from cholorine, fluoride and much more!
