Craving Salt/hot food

Just a little back story. I have already been vegetarian for 4 1/2 years and vegan for 2.  I just recently (just in the past week) started 811. The problem I am coming across is that I am craving salty food. I feel like after so many bananas, dates and other fruits all day, I am over the sweetness and I don't want sweet food anymore. It's like I have to force myself to eat more fruit, but after a while, I literally can't. I just don't want sweet anymore. I don't usually have a sweet tooth anyway.  But I am still hungry. I have been doing salads at the end of the day but that isn't cutting it either. Is this just a phase? I get real irritable too, as in "if I have to drink one more banana smoothie I'm gonna...do something real crazy."....Also, it is very cold right now where I live and the thought of eating cold fruit all day usually doesn't sound appealing. In the summer time I can eat soooo much fruit all day long. But right now it feels...blah. Anywho, any suggestions, words of encouragement, or insight to this would really help me. 811 makes so much sense to me and I do believe I can thrive on it, I'm just feeling defeated right now.

  • I add a little boiling water to my liters of water to bring them to body temp. As for savory cravings, I make a cucumber/tahini/lime dressing that really does the trick, especially if I have tomatoes in the salad, too. Give it time, Chantel! The beginning is always the most difficult. Focus on how good you feel.

  • Hi!! I get that way sometimes too, something I do is find "salty" veggies to get a savory fix. Different veggies like cucumbers, tomatoes, or broccoli is what I usually grab, Hope that was helpful! :)

  • I'm a Snowboard Instructor in Big Bear, i had bought a ceramic bowl and a hot plate and i warm water to a temp i'd like to hot tub in and put my fruit in there, and let them enjoy a nice relaxing warm bath or if your pressed for time take a gallon jar and  put your naners in and keep putting warm water in the jar until the naners are nice and warm, drink warm water as well and try not to put anything cold in your body, my irritation had been my bodys irritation at me for putting cold food in, word on getting enough calories, but i'd say also get enough warm water in the morning. I also have purchased a Amythist biomat and it's a big comfort to know i can come home and use it if i need to to warm up, from what i read if we drop even 1 degree  C we lose 3000 helpful bacteria for Digestion and other means, were 98.6/7 F for a reason :D Dress Warm. your craving for cooked food is craving for warmth but if you were to eat cooked food you'd know you want to stay on the Raw like i had because you just feel too good and sometimes feel guided and loved by the consciousness of the Spirit of the food your eating :), so i'd say Eat Warm Raw Food and Drink warm water and dress warmly and of course get enough calories for your body to be able to warm itself : Blessings and good luck were all trying to pull it off together in the cold climates. :D One more thing i'd recommend Using Un-Chlorinated water as i don't know how much produce likes chlorine :) i've Also Bought a 5 gallon Bpa free Bottle that i let water sit in and play beautiful music to like Snatam Kaur or Deva Premal then i would recommend having a nice big glass pot to warm un-chlorinated water For The Fruits and Veggies Full Royal Treatment :D as were not only Doing This For Our Health And Well Being but also for the Happiness of the Fruits and Veggies, treating them well so they help us consciously on our Paths and Share their Inherit Wisdom of the Earth. May All Beings Be Happy :D

  • Throw some celery in your salad along with tomatoes, those have the salty tastes you crave! My advice is realize in the beginning it's tough but stick with it for a month and the worst habits should start to subside a bit. And make sure to get in enough calories, most people undereat when starting out:)
