Dehydrator Issues!

I am one lucky duck, and was recently gifted a new, giant dehydrator from a friend of mine.

I say giant...because it is fairly giant...And I have no idea where to put the thing.

Where do you guys put yours if you have one?

My house is quite cozy and there is no room for it in the kitchen. Downstairs is a big ball of mystery must and probably mold...If I keep it in the living room will the house smell like dehydrated astronat food? In case you don't know what that smells like...it smells fruity.

At the moment ...it is in its giant edifice like box in the middle of the room, testimant to my general confusion of why they would make something like this so big.

  • No, not really. It depends on what is in there. Bananas, mangos, grapes, tomatoes, apples, and leafy greens like kale and spinach have almost no scent unless you are near the dehydrator and then it is still faint. Herbs can be a bit stronger, but really not enough to permeate the place.
    • thank you Lesli, that's a big help

  • My Excaliber dehydrator has a permanent spot on a corner table in the space sort of dividing my livingroom from what is suppose to be a dining room, but it is more of a nook. Not decorative but it works for me.
    • thats awesome, does it smell the room up?

  • My mom just told me she bought me one for Christmas. I was curious where to put it myself when I get it. Can't wait to hear if anyone has any suggestions.

    • lol wow, I don't feel so alone now! It was seriously a lot bigger then I ever dreamed it could be. It is almost the size of my small oven? :/
