Detox relief?

Okay, I started trying to go raw for 4 days before Xmas but over the holiday I ate junk for 3-4 days. Now that I've been raw for 1 week now, the detox symptoms are really eating at me. I have many headaches throughout the day, I feel weak and fatigued most of the day as well. I require 10-12 hours of sleep now. My work day is terrible because of these symptoms. I eat 2500-3000 cals/day and drink 1 gallon of waterat least per day.  I've also been jogging every other day and walking a little on the days in between jogs. Any suggestions of what will make this time of detoxing less painful?

  • Did you happen to drink loads of coffee or caffenated beverages?

a friend of mine went through a really bad transition, and her headaches and fatigue was so severe i had to personally lift her out of bed and put her on the toilet. It put me in a panic, i was ready to take her to the hospital. She generally didn't eat much sugar, was more of a legumes/vegetables/some fish and eggs person

it threw me in a panic so much, i started blaming myself and was trying to find if there is a condition where people get sick from sugar, or maybe it was an allergic reaction, if she'd require hospitalisation, she was in bed holding her head and screaming at me from the pain, and then i realised, she hadn't had coffee in 2 days.

I gave her half a cup of coffee and it was coffee withdrawal symptoms. She had a habit of drinking coffee and didn't know she had a caffeine addiction,

It was the worst moments of my life, no matter what she had eaten, it didn't matter, what was wrong was what she DIDN'T have, which was her coffee. She didn't have a mental addiction to it, but her body had one, her reaction was terrifying, i'm not even exaggerating. It was a grab-head-with-both-hands-and-scream pain, she had a severe addiction though, as she told me she drank up to 10 cups a day.

    • Caffiene, no not really. I've had a history of Binge Eating disorder though and on some days I'd consume a lot of refined sugar and fried foods.

It's terrible that your friend went through that, I'm grateful mine isn't so bad. Last night, because the I was so tired of feeling so bad I actually ate fries, salad, and salty salad dressing. As soon as I did that the pain was gone and I had that energized, fake happy feeling again. But I don't wanna tell myself to start eating those foods just a little when I have those pains because it's so hard for me to stop eating them. I'm trying to find a non-food coping agent for these first few weeks...

      • at least you kept it vegan. Try easing in to it, see if you could do better with baked potatoes to reduce the fat. I know many people who have been addicted to potatoes and/or went 80% raw and kept potatoes just as the cooked food. I also have potatoes and/or rice when money is tight and i need to fill up.

Sleep as much as you can, loads of sleep won't do you harm, the only "harm" that it can do is due to sleeping for many hours you might wake up with a headache, due to dehydration (a lot of people go for tea or coffee instead of water in the morning, which will just prolong that headache)

        • thanks Vice, Yeah I think I'll give that a try and then when I'm ready to, try 100% raw again. It's amazed me how bad detox can make you feel though. I've been reading what Dr. Graham has to say about it and there's no way of knowing how long it can last. Just gotta wait it out.

          Thanks again!
