Hello everyone!

I'm going into my senior year of high school this September. I've been vegan since fall of last year, and vegetarian for a few years before that. Since around April, I've upped my intake of whole fruits and vegetables. I feel amazing. I've become more fit and stronger, and overall I feel my health has greatly increased.

However, lately I've been getting sick every time I eat cooked food. I tried cutting gluten, which my dad is intolerant of. That helped, but I'm still getting nauseous after dinner. Evidently this is problematic, as I still live at home with my family. I've been eating 100% raw until dinner, which I eat high carb low fat vegan, but cooked. My family is very supportive of my decision to be vegan, and also they've also seen my health increase.

I feel my best on 100% raw. This summer is my opportunity to at least try going completely raw for a week. I'm hoping that after this my parents will let me go raw indefinitely.

Do you have any advice for how I could go about talking about going 100% raw? Like I said, my family is very open to this. My mom is vegetarian, but I'm the only hardcore vegan here. But I don't want to rush into anything with them.

I've already hinted that once I hit college, I'm going raw. But I hope that I can do this before then, otherwise it's going to be another year of nausea after cooked food.

Thanks in advance to any advice. I really need it.

Hey everyone! I came from a restrictive low carb diet and decided to try RT4 because I knew I needed to grow some ovaries and tackle my restrictive eating problem. I was so tired of merely existing and wanted to thrive.

The amount of calories made me very nervous and it was a challenge to trust food again. I gradually increased my calories and now am getting 2000 minimum a day and 3 liters of water. I'm working up to 2500 :). I feel so alive! I love working out, am hitting PR's in running, and I don't feel exhausted after. I'm completely satisfied every day, I get better sleep, and my skin is so soft. I can trust my whole, plant, vegan, high carb food and I can eat as much as I want! I also love it because it's doable and sustainable long-term. I can go out to restaurants and find something HCLF, and I don't feel socially isolated because of my food.

I experienced bloating and digestion upset at the beginning because my body wasn't used to digesting much food at all, and both symptoms went away within 2 weeks. I have eaten RT4 for almost a month and I'm very happy eating this way. I have not gained any weight but that is not what my focus is on. I feel like I'm actually alive and I am happy.

Just wanted to share my experience :)

So I've been going all out on the non-restriction thing, having 10 banana smoothies every morning, another 1,000 calorie smoothie for lunch, and huge bowls of rice and pasta for dinner. My family is part of the whole "carbs make you fat" movement, so every time they see me have these meals, they raise their eyebrows and comment, "That's a lot of white rice..." "You're eating THAT many bananas?" "Wow, you're really going to town, tonight!" etc. Especially the bananas, they tell me how they've read that they're pure sugar, high in carbs, blah blah.

Besides me explaining that pure, natural carbs don't cause insulin spikes because of the fiber in the foods, I also explain to them that humans are meant to live off of plant-based carbohydrates, and that I don't believe humans should limit their intake of fruit any more than a lion should limit his intake of gazelle, or a caterpillar should limit his intake of leaves.

So I eat a lot in spite of their comments, because I'm frankly tired of restricting myself so much. All my life I've been adapting my portion sizes to the people around me, even though I knew those measly meals wouldn't satisfy me. Especially since I'm a woman, but I find myself naturally wanting to eat more than most men eat, so I feel like there's something wrong with me.

There is a little voice inside my head that tells me I shouldn't have such a voracious appetite, that I should have more "feminine" portions, but my under carbed brain allows interrupts and says, "Screw that! I'm gonna eat as much as I want, I am so done with restricting myself and feeling unsatisfied because of it. I don't care if people think I eat a too much, that's none of their business. This is my life, I'm gonna live it to the fullest, and I'm gonna EAT to the fullest!"

So thankfully, I haven't given in to peer pressure, and I don't see myself ever going back to restriction. I'm not gaining weight, so they can't throw any concrete evidence at me against my new eating habits anyway. It'll just be nice when I get the physical results to show them it's actually the reverse!

Has anyone else had any experience with people telling them eating Raw Till 4 will make them fat?

I mostly ate blended bananas and blended apples without the skin during these 7 months because I lost the enamel on my teeth.I have a theory that people who are used to eating cooked carbs can handle them and people who have had a raw diet for a long time BUT have detoxed very well can also handle them, but I am somewhere in the middle where my body is not used to them but it is also not in a vibrant state where it can handle everything because it's so clean.Any thoughts on this? I feel I shouldhsve just started with raw til 4 and done that for several years. Can my body go back to rice and potatoes now? The reason that it concerns me is because I have been involved with communities that maintain that cooked starches become glue in the intestines.

Also, I exercise regularly (sometimes I run about 4 km, most of the time I ride bike to school which is about 20km forth and back). I drink about 2-3 liters of water per day, sometimes less.

In fact, I have experienced some changes, for example, I feel better, my hair and nails are stronger. The problem is, my weight haven't changed a bit. I mean, I haven't gained or lost any of it. Sometimes it really pisses me off... That's why I created this topic! So if anyone could tell me what I am doing wrong, I'll be pleased to hear.

My name is Melanie and I'm 17, going on 18 in one month and I was on the rawtil4 for a good 6 months and was loving it, but then I fell off the wagon and have no good reason for it. I've been on and off a raw foodist all my life, and have to admit that I ALWAYS feel fantastic when I'm vegan. I have been aching to get back into this lifestyle but if anyone knows Oregon... They know that in the winter and fall, there is no good fruit until summer time. Is there anyone living in Portland Oregon that would like to help me get back into this lifestyle? My boyfriend is always supportive and will eat whatever I make him and admits that eating vegan feels amazing, however he loves his bacon. I need help and motivation and it would be wonderful if anyone around me was doing raw til 4 and could help push me back into this with some good tips and just a general friend.

Sincerely,

Melanie

1013782_492532644203265_90763304_n.jpg

Hey yall!

My name is Ryan, and I was kinda the first member on 30BAD! (Besides Free & DR of course.) Crazy, right?

This site has given me so much. Most notably, it granted me a sense of community that I needed big time, and has shaped my ideals for a support network that are now being realized even more tangibly in my life.

Honestly, it's been awhile since I've visited here. I gotta say, I'm impressed, by a few things:

1) Aimee's 'Spring Into Action' thread is still going strong! Amazing. Like 6 years now!

2) The vibe is still high! This question & answer, discussion, free-flow of interaction works so well with a group with a positive attitude.

3) How the scope of the site has been opened up, without compromise! I remember when Give It To Me Raw forum opened up past raw vegan foods, and the proverbial floodgates let loose a flurry of chaotic dialogue. Though, it spawned 30BAD! And here, things are still very much in forward momentum.

What brought me here today is the chance to offer to you all is my new cookbook! I have focused a lot of energy to collect a guide of information and cherished recipes in the Homestyle Vegan Cookbook.

All recipes and recommendations in this book are tailored within the guidelines of Raw Till 4. It features 26 complete-meal recipes that are high-carbohydrate, oil-free, low-sodium, minimally-cooked, gluten-free, and truly delicious.

They have stood the test of time & trials, as these are mostly recipes that have been in my family for multiple generations; classics of various cultures that have been taken to the highest standards of nutritional presentation.

The guide also features recommendations for the essential tools to have in your kitchen and items in your pantry, with specific trusted brand recommendations and where to find them!

Additionally, there is a complete cooking guide for preparing a range of vegetables, grains, and beans, including specific cook times and methods for various types, and instructions for the healthiest types of cooking methods.

If this sounds like something that may be of service to you, I invite you to check out more of the story and purchase Homestyle Vegan here.

On this page I go into more detail about what you can find within the pages, and also give links to YouTube videos that I've been featured in where I show off the recipes and book.

Thanks for taking the time with me on this post. For doing so, I'd like to offer you this exclusive 30BAD discount!

The book includes a full satisfaction guarantee, without expiration.

Regardless, I'm happy to have the opportunity to revisit the site, and be so pleasantly familiarized with this place and its members in the current phase.

Keep up the great work!

-Ry

Hi!

So I've been following the raw till 4 lifestyle off and on for months. About 3 weeks ago I got serious and have been eating this way consistently.

My concern is this:
I'm tandem breastfeeding my toddler and my 3 month old. I always make an excess of milk.

The last 3 weeks, I've been dizzy and light headed with a fuzzy brain. It feels like I'm not eating enough...like my blood pressure has dropped, but I know that I am because I'm monitoring it via cronometer. I've averaging 3200-3500 calories a day.I usually do 15-30 mins of yoga 5 days a week. It's hard to get consistent exercise with two little ones during the winter.

Here is a typical day for me in the winter:

I eat a massive banana date smoothie in the am that adds up to about 1200-1400 calories or I have a massive dateoraid.

This usually take me a while to eat, but almost instantly, after the first couple sips, I start to feel dizzy.

For lunch I'll have another big smoothie, usually a green one plus 5-6 bananas or pears. It usually totals about 800-1000 calories or I'll just eat 6-10 bananas.

For dinner I'll eat the typical RT4 potatoes, rice, rice noodles, pasta etc etc. It usually adds up to 1300-1400.

I drink a TON of water. Around 7-9 L a day easily. Breastfeeding makes you thirsty. I pee clear.

I have read that the dizziness could be two things..the fat leaving my system and/or the salt leaving my system.

I'm starting to get concerned as I have two little ones to care for all day and I worry about driving and just doing daily activities with them.

Can anyone tell me how long this may last? Can I do anything to ease this?

P.S. I have been eating clean for a long time, but I did have gut problems and I know I had problems absorbing nutrients. When I started to change my diet 7 years ago it was because I was pretty sick. Massive fatigue, debilitating joint pain, headaches, brain fog, skin issues, flu symptoms, bad periods etc. I don't have any of those things anymore, except for the occasional joint pain if I eat something wrong.

Please help!

I lost weight and later stabilized to a healthy weight. Later on, I started eating Raw till 4 and started gaining some extra pounds, so I decided to go back to a Fully Raw diet for at least a month to try to go back to where I was. Still, I want my body to adjust to eat cooked food at night again. I love Raw till 4 lifestyle and I feel its the best of both worlds! So how would say is the best way to transition so I don't lose what I've gained? Thanks!!!

I am certainly not used to this, and I'm still worried about vitamin deficiencies such as iron, b12, and D despite having heard countless times why and where these things can be obtained.

As a lot of the women (and men) come to this lifestyle with disordered eating pasts and presents, I too come here wearing my badges of dishonor: calorie-restrictor, weight obsessed, digestively challenged, nut-binger, and hypochondriac. I may have given up the most severe case of calorie restriction 2 years ago, but I would certainly be heading down that beaten path again in no time if it weren't for this lifestyle.

My metabolism in compromised GREATLY, I am still healing from antibiotics given to me in order to eradicate vicious h. pylori, I am jumping head first into this despite having done Fully Raw wrong 7 months prior, and I am more confused than ever about who to listen to and what will keep my body from feeling so ill. I feel like I'm being pulled in so many directions, but I don't know who to follow. No doubt Vegan is important, but I still truly believe there is no one set way of eating for every person. I'm just not sure where to begin, but I have decided to build my base upon RT4 and add gradually until I find what is absolutely right for me.

For now I feel a little lonely in the journey because I have no one to talk to about my specific ailments thus far. I'm a worrier, something I would like to alleviate with time, but I cannot help the fear I am going to have life-threatening symptoms but I have no way of telling -of course, until it's too late and I've ruined my health more.

Gosh, does that make sense? I guess what I'm trying to say is I feel weird, and I would love to hear more about others' first couple weeks going HCRV / RT4.

Forgive my incoherence!

Love and light,

Pip

I should also mention that I stopped taking the contraceptive pill 2 months ago and my time of the month hasn't come back into full force yet. It definitely felt like terrible PMS cramps, but magnified by 100!

Anyway, if any of you lovely ladies have advice on how to work through this please let me know!

Lauren

Okay so from my posts i know i may say 'oh ive gained weight' or feel like i have, but seriously now. I know my body. I know i've gained weight. Im not saying i had a thigh gap but my thighs were definitely a lot slimmer before and i had a smaller 'stomach' area.
Recently, i've noticed my thighs aren't as slim and it feels like my stomach is constantly bloated/podged!
It may be because the lack of cardio THIS WEEK. Ive been working everyday so ive had no time to do so, however i still do my normal at home routine, squats, pushups, weights etc.
Its pissing me off so much because its like, this month has been a really bad month for me. ive binged, ate shit, ate healthy, restricted, over ate. This may play some part in this weight gain but i dont think it really is as the morning after i eat crappy, im not 'fat' or nor have i gained a lot of weight. - and ive not done it a lot.
The days where i've ate healthy, ive woken up heavier, looking fatter, etc.
I dont know if its just this raw till 4 jazz just catching up with me, having all this fruit sugar when im not using it to its advantage (exercising enough) or what.
I want to try the starch solution, however, the thought of having oats in the morning is scaring the CRAP out of me. I feel comfortable going for a run and then having a banana smoothie, not a banana baked porridge. The thought of eating a cooked lunch like its odd to me, its easier to just grab fruit and be on my way.
I really hope someone can help me by either giving me tips with foods, exercise, starch solution and raw till 4. Raw till 4 doesn't work for everyone and i have a feeling im one of them people. I was thinking of going fully raw but i know right now, its not going to work (for now) Im getting really down about this as i lost 20lbs of weight and i do NOT want it coming back. I do NOT want people noticing my weight gain when i have photos on facebook/tumblr of me looking smaller than i am now. I dont want friends or family to say or even think that ive gained weight when i used to get told i was too skinny at one point - which was music to my ears lol.
Thanks guys.
XxxxX

Around a month ago I started to develop some weird and serious problems on raw till 4. I have been raw till 4 for around 4 months now, I unfortunately have had some cheat days though, so I am not really sure what counts. I was not exactly doing raw till 4 though. I have having cooked things for lunch and dinner, lots or greens and some fruit with the cooked meals as well. I would only have around 1 fruit meal a day. It isn't the best quality fruit either because I have a meal plan at my college. I started getting some really wicked headaches and pain behind my eyes, and even vision problems. (I know very bad :(. ) Recently I have had pain in my joints as well, like really serious pain in my knee and hip. I ran at the gym recently and I believe I may have injured it there. I honestly really do not run that much at all either, so it seems strange that it would hurt so much. I also started getting pressure in my heart and chest. Now I have heart aches around everyday still! It sucks. Right now my family has convinced me to try and switch back to the standard american diet, and for the past three days my life has been horrible! I feel so tired all the time, no energy, my heart is still having issues, and my brain is so foggy. It is horrible. Lucky the pressure behind my eyes and my headaches have seemed to go away. I think it was high blood sugar. Also, the pain in my joints has subsided which is good. I was just wondering if you have any advice on this. I really don't want to go back to a SAD diet, but it seems like the only option right now :(
Any advice would be so so helpful!

(Side note: I have also been having teeth problems, any tips would be great!)
Thanks so much for your time
sincerely,
Lauren :)

I don't know whether to do a nice simple long jog today or do a HIIT one.I feel like my body prefers doing HIIT in the afternoon now but doing two runs in one day...surely that does the opposite of wanting to lose weight? (I know the body is weird like that..I think.)I'm doing some errands today as well so I'm using the bike aka more exercise/cardio.WHAT SHALL I DOit doesn't help that I'm SO hungry right now. so if I was to do the jog then hop on to the bike after, it means longer to get home aka I will be starving when I get in.idk. what's better for weight loss. two runs in one day? or shall I just do the HIIT then bike or the endurance and bike?HELP ME. I want to go soon! hahah. Thanks xx
