After drinking about four cups of juice I feel quite satiated and can go a while without feeling hunger again. I've been considering having a large glass, maybe eight cups of orange juice, for breakfast as a meal because I feel so great afterwards and it's so delicious! I suppose I'm just wondering if having a meal that is solely juice is sufficient for breakfast. What do y'all think? I see a lot of raw eaters have mostly juice throughout the mornings so wondering what y'all's take is

Hi family, this has always perplexed me and of course I've come up with my own ideas about it but I want to hear yours too.

The experience is that at first when you're drinking a lot of juice or eating high quantities of fruit, it starts to hurt. But then the pain fades and all the sudden you're hungry for that food that was hurting you.

I think it's because when you start to consume something, it requires enzymes and digestive fluids to be produced that will digest that food, but at first, it takes some time to get them flowing. Once they're flowing it feels good and you want to eat more of that food.

Here are some things that can help to make the juices flow:

eat healthy and clean. you'll be more ready to produce juice-digestion-related stomach fluids if you aren't full of crud

drink water. I like to get 2 liters before each meal but 1 liter is minimum

sleep until you feel like getting up. going to bed early enough to not need an alarm will take you to a new level of digestion.

What do you think? Any other ideas? What are the causes of this pain, and what are the solutions?

Here is a video I made about it

https://youtu.be/E5aUx9iRyek

She's been to the doctor and they couldn't really tell her what it was, they just had several possibilities of what it might be.

So we have been doing a lot of research on our own and first thought it might be scabies and now she is quite sure that it is Morgellons. Anyone have any idea what blood sugar range is normal on RT4?

The only thing she is doing that *might* be problematic is she is drinking a lot of freshly made orange juice which I know is not a completely "whole" food. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. She is doing great but I would really like to either allay her concerns or figure out how to get the numbers under control.

When I think of refined sugar, I think of sugar cane that was ran through a juice press, then the juice dehydrated to get the sugar crystals. Is that the same way they make sea salt, from dehydrated sea water?

Anyways, basically what I'm trying to get at..

If I have a bottled juice like Lakewood Organic mango nectar for breakfast, does that still follow Raw Till 4? It's been pasteurized, so I like to think not. Even though it's refrigerated, it was at one point heated? That would kinda be the same thing as eating a cold baked potato? I dunno.. From what I gathered, eating cooked or steamed carbs are slower to digest and help keep your weight stable. That's why we save those things for the last meal of the day. For someone trying to lose weight, I don't think this would be too optimal.

I'm just trying to understand the science of the body a little better, and it's reaction to foods once it's been cooked. I'm technically not over weight. I woke up, drank my morning water, and then felt a bowel movement coming on like what usually happens during my morning water. As I am walking upstairs to the bathroom, I feel a wetness inside of my underwear. I reach the bathroom to pull down my pants and discover a red liquid dripping uncontrollably from my bum. It got all over my underwear, the floor and toilet seat. It had a consistency of water, and what seemed to be the color of blood. There was a nice amount of red in the toilet with my stool as well. I've pooped hints of red many times in the past from excessive amounts of watermelon, but it was always more of a pink. This time it was more on the dark side. My diet has consisted of primarily watermelons and fresh juices for the past 3-4 days. I've also eaten a few bananas in this time. I put my first ever beet into a juice during that time frame; however, it was a good 2-3 whole days before the happening of this scare in which I speak of. I would not be worried if it was simply the color red in my poo, but I am concerned as to why the red liquid would have been in the picture. I've been a strict lfrv, with no exceptions, for approximately 8 months now. I refuse to visit the ER to allow man made chemistry into my body. Half of my family is telling me it is from what I'm eating, and the other half is telling me I am ridiculous for refusing a trip to the ER. I am still concerned. Since this experience, I've noticed slight discomfort on and off in my back and abdominal region, but it could be my mind since I've always had a bit of hypochondria in me. I seek insights from others whom eat the way I do. Please help, brothers and sisters. Lots of love to ya!

I don't enjoy salad. I have tried numerous different styles and have made all different dressings (I found a lot of good ideas on the forums here!) but still I find I can eat maybe 3 bites and I am just done. I have always hated salad haha.

So that being said, what is the ideal way to get my greens?

I sometimes make a green smoothie with banana & kale or spinach but I don't like having those every day. but

Something I used to do before I was completely vegan was I would make a green juice in the morning consisting of:

-cucumber

-apple

-celery

-greens (kale/spinach etc)

I don't like juicing much because of removing the fibre and all that..

BUT would this be a good thing to have first thing in the morning maybe as a bit of a boost to get some nutrients in before I start the day? It wouldn't be breakfast. More of a 'pre-breakfast' vitamin shot if you will!

Would this kind of juice have any negative affects? I don't 100% understand the science behind all of this yet.

For 2 weeks now I've been eating fully raw, at least 2000-3000 calories everyday, except yesterday and today it's been really hard for me to eat, I haven't had much of an appetite. More so it's just that food doesn't seem appealing to me right now. Yesterday I had 1L of tangerine juice (with pulp of course) for breakfast, and I was fine, but when I tried to eat lunch (10 pears) I only got through 4 or 5 before I had to stop. So I went and bought some dates because I figured "I can usually slam those in" but same thing. Normally I can eat upwards of 30 in one sitting but I only managed to eat about 15 and that was in the course of an hour. They don't even seem like they'd taste good. I also ate lettuce wraps for dinner last night. I chopped a bunch of vegetables up and put some lemon and lime juice on them and wrapped them in iceberg. That was all I could manage to eat. Similar today. Only I haven't eaten yet :( when I woke up this morning I had a thick white coating on my tongue and I can tell my breath stinks. I'm also groggy and have some gas. I don't know what could be causing the lack of appetite but can you guys suggest any foods that are easy on the stomach or things you can eat even when you feel yucky? Is it okay to not eat a lot if you don't feel well if it's only for a little while?

This very strange for me, because I very rarely vomit even when sick. Iive also noticed that other juices that have grape juice mixed in sometimes make me feel sick too, although I have not had the same results with the mixed juice as with the 100%. In fact some other grape blends I have no problem with.

Anyone have any thoughts about this?

I was aiming for a 30 day juice fast.

What are your experiences???

Appreciate your help :)

Kate x

Quick background info because I know you guys are gonna ask for it. ;-)

Haven't consumed meat in 10 years. Vegan (cooked and raw alternated) for 2 years. 100% 811 since January 7th (so...just over three months now).

I've been dealing with a very mild but annoying yeast infection for over a year now (after a course of antibiotics for a gum infection in February of 2012). I occasionally eat too much (over 10%) fat with my evening salads, so I believe this is the reason I can't quite kick the yeast. I tried to go overt-free for a month but failed because I can't seem to get my salads down without lemon juice and tahini. So I decided to go on orange island for a week, both to rid myself of my addiction to tahini and to utilize all that vitamin C to assist with rebalancing my candida.

So today, my husband (who wants to do orange island with me) and I bought 280 pounds of oranges. Yum, right? So excited...we love oranges! And we get to juicing (with a hand juicer...to keep as much fiber as possible). Now, we've made meals of orange juice in the past...two quarts = 1000 calories. But today was the first time that we've drank more than two quarts each in one day. The plan was 6 quarts a day = 3000 calories. Nick is doing fine, no issues. But me? After 4 quarts, I've got the most painful heartburn I've ever had in my life.

I should mention that I've had severe acid reflux since I was a baby. The old doc I used to see in my childhood suspected an esophageal hernia, but I never got scoped to get an official diagnosis. My reflux issues are usually postural, meaning they generally only occur when I'm laying down. I also get reflux when I haven't eaten anything in over 3 hours. Reflux and heartburn usually present to me with two different sensations. Right now I seem to be feeling a combination of both. The acid in my stomach is in overdrive AND it's coming up into my esophagus.

This really hurts! And I've had it now for hours! :-(

Obviously, my first instinct is to run far away from orange island. But before I do, I just want to make sure that if I continued, the acid issue would indeed NOT get better. Because if this is temporary, I may try to stick it out because dealing with a yeast infection for over a year now is getting really old really fast.

Anyone with experience on orange island have any advice for me? Thanks so much! <3

Sticking with slightly sour organic oranges, getting the conventional riper oranges or buying pasteurised organic juice that tastes sweet. In your opinion do you think this is worth it or i should just use a quart a day in banana smoothies instead? Thanks!
