Hi all,

Recently, I've done my blood test that showed my potassium level is above the maximum and my iron is very below minimum. Does anyone have an issue with potassium? For iron I'll need to take supplement, as this is a long term issue and it's getting worse. There is some prob with hemoglobin as well.

I've read that high potassium is dangerous for kidneys and a level of K is increased when you eat a lot of bananas, potatos, tomatoes, dried fruit.

I do eat 2-3 bananas, 1-2 dried dates in a day. I love potato, so I eat them every day as well as tomatoes. I do eat a lot of raw during the day, cooked in the evening/later in a day.

I'm going to see a doc but in my country we don't have a plant based doc. So again, I'll hear that I need to eat meat or supplement.

Does anyone have a similar problems?

Thank you and I look forward to hearing your views 😊

I just posted this in the wrong section - I think it belongs here instead so I moved it over...

I was born with kidney disease. It's genetic. My dad had it and he was the recipient of a transplant but he died from a heart attack. That being said though he did not live the healthiest lifestyle.

I'm 23 years old and I have only around 20% function left. Doctors keep warning me I will need dialysis soon but I just do not accept that.

This is why I have been trying to do this high carb/mostly raw diet - I figure if I'm eating the food we are designed to eat it will be less stress to my body and therefore less toxins for my kidneys to remove.

Then enters potassium: If kidneys don't function well they have trouble getting rid of excess potassium. My blood tests recently were slightly high. Nothing close to needing treatment, but still high enough to cause my doctor to be concerned and told me to cut it back in my diet. (It was around 5.4 - should be 5 at the most)

It does freak me out a bit because if you have too much potassium in the blood you can be at risk of a heart attack and I asked me doctor and she said that sometimes there can really be no symptoms to warn you that it's high.

So all of this being said:

WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO EAT?

I rely on bananas and dates to get my calories up. I've been playing around with cronometer adding other fruits instead and I still end up with over 6000mg of potassium a day no matter what to get my needed 2000-2500 cals a day. & That's if I don't have a raw dinner and I have white rice instead (low potassium).

ALL fruits contain potassium - and to get enough calories from any fruits it's going to be high no matter what. Even if I don't have bananas etc.

I do not trust the kidney specialist dietician because she basically tells me to eat no more than half a banana a day but it's totally okay to eat lots of red meat for iron because it's easiest for our bodies to absorb in that form (BS!) & that I should be adding butter and oils to all my food to keep my calories up. What a load of crap. The fact that this is the advice that our health system is dishing out is utterly appalling.

Anyway I am really upset. I want this lifestyle to help me not harm me. I hear so many great stories of people healing themselves naturally. Why not me? Why does this disease have to be different.

I don't know what to do.

Does anyone have ANY experience in this?

Hi everyone,

I am so happy to have discovered this community and this way of life. I was once again trying to force my body to slim down, this time through another master cleanse. On 4th day I was tired and hungry and knew that there just has to be something else out there. So I kept going through Youtube and then came across Durianrider and Freelea's channels. I watched and watched and couldn't believe someone was actually telling me to EAT FRUIT! Everyone has always told me not to and that is the one thing I always crave. So what would happen is that I would "relapse" on sugary floury stuff. At one point I even did the Dukan for 2 months, lost the weight, gained it all back and then some. Anyway, having you guys testify to the low fat high carb diet I was so relieved and just feel so much hope! So I broke my master cleanse with fresh squeezed orange juice and then had about 5 small bananas, 2 mangos and half a cantalope. That felt so awesome!! I actually had some strength this morning.

This morning I started with 2 bananas and a mango, however, about half hour later I got stomach cramps and this painful sensation in my stomach, same as I get if I drink apple juice on empty stomach. Anyone has experienced this? What do you eat for breakfast? Any recommendations are very welcome!

Thanks and look forward to connecting with you!

Greenstar

I just have a small panic attack if I start to have kidney pings. It's mostly the right one.

And, of course, anyone I try to talk to this about says it's the potassium, blah, blah, blah. I know I can't pound super potassium heavy fruits days on end. Sometimes even a whole watermelon is no bueno.

I know that sodium helps. Sea salt instantly helps, but then I feel gross and puffy the next day. Sometimes I drink water with trace mineral concentrate drops.

I eat celery when I crave it, but should I force feed it?

Hey folks,

I'm new to 30Bad. Recently read David Klein's Self-Healing C&C and have 80/10/10 Diet on order.

I've recently gone to a LFRV diet as advocated by Dr. David Klein to try to tackle my aggravated Crohn's Disease condition. Since then however, I began feeling worse and worse and after a blood test I ended up in hospital with critically low sodium (at risk of siezure) and critically high potassium (at risk of heart failure) i.e. I could have died.

Now there are a few other factors that could have contributed to this. a) I have no large intestine after emergency surgery in 2002 due to Crohn's related complications. This means that I have more difficulty absorbing electrolytes and other minerals such as sodium. b) I wasn't having as much juiced celery juice as was recommended (6-10 stalks per day rather than the 10-20 stalks per day that Dr. Dave has since recommended for me).

Anyway, I spent 3.5 days in the hospital where they corrected my levels and brought them back within a safe range. However, since then (even after juicing more celery and adding sea salt to my diet) the problem of rising potassium has continued. The doctors are not sure why this is happening especially since my adrenal glands seem to be working as they are supposed to (adrenals play a role in regulating sodium & potassium).

Wondering if anyone here has had or knows anyone who has had a similar experience (I seem to be a strange anomaly case) or has any suggestions/resources/contacts that might be able to help shed further light on my particular case.

Peace.

But then alas, I found this:

"....So the question then becomes, would it be possible to eat enough bananas to cause potassium poisoning? Since the U.S. RDA for potassium is 4,000 mg or so, and since one banana contains about 400 mg, you would have to eat 10 bananas just to hit the RDA. Obviously that is not toxic – that’s the recommendation.

So to get a toxic dose of potassium from bananas, you would have to eat far more than 10 bananas.

If you look up the lethal dose for potassium chloride on a page like this, the oral value is 2,600 mg per kilogram. If you weigh 75 kilograms (165 pounds), you would need to consume 75 * 2,600 = 195,000 mg of potassium to reach fatal levels. That’s 487 bananas worth. Potassium chloride is only about half potassium, so you might need to eat fewer bananas (containing K rather than KCl) than that to achieve toxicity, say by half. But the result is the same – It is hard to imagine that people who are healthy are going to be killing themselves with bananas. It’s hard to imagine someone eating 25 bananas in a day, much less 250."

hahardiha....little doth she know that a 30bananas a day lifestyle is sweeping the globe!!
