I told them that I eat celery because it has natural sodium in it but didn't know what else to say...

Help! I also try and add in celery - green smoothies and dressings - to help top it up. Never the less according to the cronometer I am using it is still way below the RDI. The other minerals however are fine. I find this is backed up with the sorts of cravings I have, ie salty foods.

Hi everyone,

I'm in so much pain right now. Not only do I have pain on my right shoulder, arm, and breast, but also my entire back now. I feel pain in my right breast when I laugh, sneeze, cough or clear my throat. Sometimes the pain feels like it were in my heart, but I think and hope it's only my breast. :-/ My breasts are feeling generally very heavy, but I have no clue what size they are, I just know their size (cups and all) have increased drastically since going HCRV. All of this scares me. Due to an appointment (non-medical related) that costed me nearly 200€, I'm broke and I had to seek help by my guidance counselor by the vocational school yesterday, as I need to be able to live. I'm not working today and will be going to the doctor today, as I am barely able to move my right arm and bend, let alone work. It is a struggle, as I am the only one that can buy my foods and I desperately need vegan vitamin D.

Is my body simply going through the most painful growing pains as a result of my low bone density and my previous 11-year long anorexia? I'm now 26 years old.

I'm wondering if celeriac could (also) be a cause for my pain because I noticed yesterday and the day before yesterday when I ate my celeriac "rice" salad that my breathing room was very tight, I felt bloated and swollen, including in both of my breasts. Could it be a shock from my body because of the high sodium content of the celeriac? I don't believe the red bell peppers, tomatoes, scallions or herbs have effected me, especially because I eat tomatoes regularly (except in winter) and red bell peppers even more often. I know the lamb's lettuce isn't a cause for my pain as well. There were no other ingredients in the recipe.

^^Such savoury recipes have helped solve my greens problem. But I'm afraid of not being able to eat celeriac. Unfortunately there's leftovers from it and I have a moral dilemma of whether or not to eat it (just to get it over with).

Hot showers, but unfortunately short term. It would be ideal if I had a bathtub and could sleep in it, but that's not possible.

I'm not giving up and I'm continuing to fight as always, but right now is not easy for me.

For the record (to help with any suggestions). I'm allergic to all citrus fruits, kiwi, and pineapple. I've not been able to eat bananas or drink banana smoothies without gagging, BUT I still want to try Esperanza's recipe recommendation with bananas and dates and am so hopeful that it works. I know my massive date consumption may not be optimal, but I do include as much fruits as I can with more vitamin C. I'm hopeful to find a solution that doesn't hurt my finances even more and that I'll be able to eat loads of calories without having to be mostly dependent on dates.

Many thanks in advance. :)

This kind of give me a bit belief in him.

Then he says that lots of table salt is 30% salt, 30 % glass and 30% sand and therefore is bad for you, wears out your vains and so on. Is this true and if so that sand and glass must be very fine pulverized not to be seen when you dissole the salt in water? Sounds very strange to me.

Then he says that sea salt is good and that salt is necessary for the electricity within our body.

Last time i checked on salt was right when i started and then i got to the conclusion that sodium within celery or tomatoes or fruit would be enough. Just curious now if anyone can verify or debunk those things about sea salt and table salt glass/sand? :)

Answers with scources would be interesting but either way is fine.

With the exception of today, I've been eating over 500g celery. This week I've been feeling as if I've been keeping more in, instead of it eventually coming out (if you know what I mean).

I don't cheat ever. I've been completely 100% 811-lfrv since 12 May this year. I never eat anything cooked, only mono-meals, and only wholefoods (no added ingredients or any sort of schnick-schnack). For me it's not even about discipline, rather because I feel so much better as opposed to prior to my change. I eat between 3000 and 6000 calories a day (thank my beloved dates that help to boost the calories ;) ) and I drink at least 2 liters of water a day (often 3).

Especially from experienced 811-LFRVs who live so for at least 2 years, any advice/constructive criticism is welcome and appreciated. :)

Many thanks in advance! :)

I've been addicted to sodium my whole life and always preferred salty to sweet on SAD. Especially as cooked vegan this was always the case. My concern is that I am finding ways to overdo it once again with raw foods. Some days I will eat cantaloupe, celery, carrots and coconut water and I feel like I am using it as a crutch like I always have. Is it possible that some people's requirements are way higher than 500 mg per day? I also cannot find any info on which sodium compound is found in plants. If it's not sodium chloride then what exactly is it? This question has really been nagging me. I even sent an email to an old friend that majored in chemistry but have recieved no response to this question.

Hey folks,

I'm new to 30Bad. Recently read David Klein's Self-Healing C&C and have 80/10/10 Diet on order.

I've recently gone to a LFRV diet as advocated by Dr. David Klein to try to tackle my aggravated Crohn's Disease condition. Since then however, I began feeling worse and worse and after a blood test I ended up in hospital with critically low sodium (at risk of siezure) and critically high potassium (at risk of heart failure) i.e. I could have died.

Now there are a few other factors that could have contributed to this. a) I have no large intestine after emergency surgery in 2002 due to Crohn's related complications. This means that I have more difficulty absorbing electrolytes and other minerals such as sodium. b) I wasn't having as much juiced celery juice as was recommended (6-10 stalks per day rather than the 10-20 stalks per day that Dr. Dave has since recommended for me).

Anyway, I spent 3.5 days in the hospital where they corrected my levels and brought them back within a safe range. However, since then (even after juicing more celery and adding sea salt to my diet) the problem of rising potassium has continued. The doctors are not sure why this is happening especially since my adrenal glands seem to be working as they are supposed to (adrenals play a role in regulating sodium & potassium).

Wondering if anyone here has had or knows anyone who has had a similar experience (I seem to be a strange anomaly case) or has any suggestions/resources/contacts that might be able to help shed further light on my particular case.

Peace.

It's called the Osoyoss Desert Half Iron and it consists of a 2km swim, 90km cycle, and a 21km run.

The bike course is ALL hills too! I gotta cycle up and down one of thebiggest and longest hills in B.C twice...eeeep. I'm getting a new chainput on my bike today as well as new brake pads and swapping my tiresfor new ones which I won last year at a race :)

It's taking place 6 days from now which means it's during the peak of the hot season for this part of Canada in the driest part too...tis' the only desert in Canada!

Anyways, should I just juice some celery the morning of and mix that with coconut water for my salt intake or should I rock the salt tablets like Mike the fruitarian?

Does anyone have any last 'minute' advice for fueling for this race? I plan on eating dates, bananas, and drinking coconut water for the entire 5hr+ race.

Thanks for any words of wisdom and suggestions you may have to offer,

T

Oh, and I'm doing the run portion of the race in bare feet!

Hiya pals!
Watch DR's video today "A Day in the Life" and I appreciated your reminder about water weight -- sweating and replenishing water for hydration. It is so silly to think one would lose weight immediately after one exercise session. So, the point is, the NEXT DAY when you weight yourself right before exercising, you could very well be 1/4 lb lighter or something, more likely less than that, but gradual loss is the name of the game.

I have a thought/question though -- if one still has salt in their body (not the natural type) -- they could potentially still be losing EXCESS water weight that is held onto by salt -- do you think? Dr. Graham told me before that it can take 1-3 months of intense exercise (and giving up salt 100%) to get rid of all that is left in your body after xx number of years you've eaten it and xx amount that you ate. Therefore, if you still have it in your body, you could theoretically just be losing that water weight, and not have to replenish as much as it would seem. Not that these relatively small amounts really matter, or that drinking a bit of EXTRA water would really harm you (much), I'm sure the body would expel it. Thoughts?

Second question is about washing sweat off your body right after exercise. Does the salt or sodium get absorbed back in to your body if you do not rinse it all off? I have been doing Bikram Yoga this month to once and for all get out ALL SALT, and for 90 minutes that sweat just puddles on my skin.

Best -- xoxo -- JGL

Ok so heres the deal. I have been peeing like ever 2 hours around the clock for a while now.. like 2 months. I am wondering if it is just an effect of the 811 diet or not. For a while I had concluded that it was. But now I am thinking that maybe it is tied into my sodium intake. Since I am no longer eating any overt sources of sodium.. aka salt I was wondering if maybe my body is adjusting to these new lower levels of over all salt. I have been totally raw since the beginning of this year and trying to transition to 811 during that time. Ever since the end of September I have been pretty much 811 with a few occasions where I would eat a lot of nuts.So where I am at is wondering if any of you have had experience with this issue. Alot of times my bladder isn't totally full but still I have the sensation I need to pee so I do. Its a little annoying.I have been downing tomatoes like crazy.. at least a pound or 2 a day for a few weeks now, figuring they would be a good source of sodium.. but now I am going to start adding celery in and see how that goes. Also as of late.. with citrus here (woot Florida!!!) my intake of water has increased. But anyways back onto the celery.. I've never really eaten it, but I think for the next week or so I am going to start adding more into my diet. Also since the weather is cooler I don't sweat near as much as I was during summer.Ah so anouther question is.. is it possible for my sodium levels to be too low and for my body to need to expell all the extra water.. causing me to pee more frequently then I would if I start adding in more sodium? I remember hearing somewhere that sodium causes one to retain water.. I wouldn't mind that.. just a bit to where I dont go pee ever hour or so ( I can go 15+ a day easy). Can anyone relate? <3 ya!Thanks!
