Fresh Bahri Dates

For any of you living in Australia, I have a contact for fresh Bahri dates, that look like this:

The date farm is in Western Australia, but they post all over Australia. The season will be starting fairly soon.We got a box last year and they are terrific, not dried at all. They go from yellow to translucent toffee brown , when fully ripe. The farm also sell Medjool dates, but these are partially dried. If anyone is interested, I can give you the guy's phone number, so you can get your orders in.The Bahri's are about $36 for a 3kg box, plus postage.Love and peace ♥XX

  • Can anyone tell me if Bahri Dates are supposed to taste and feel exactly like apples? I bought a bag of fresh dates from the asian grocery store and waited for them to turn brown. It's exactly like eating a small brown apple.
    • Hey Ben,

If they are eaten when they have not ripened fully, then they can taste like Apples. I think it is because they still have tannins in them.

When fully ripe, they go translucent brown and taste more like toffee than Apples.

    • if they are a bit under-ripe yes they have a small crunch but other than that they should tatse like a soaked regular date. just a little more juicy and soft and way more flavorful. leave them in a paper bag outside otherwise they dont ripen right.
  • I have fresh barhi dates in excess (not complaining) 8193017498?profile=original so i listed some on ebay. so far i cant figure out a cheaper way of shipping but as soon as i do i will update cos i don't like expensive shipping.   http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fresh-Dates-Pint-Barhi-Raw-Unpasteurized-Ca...
