How far do you go as a Vegan..?

I'm interested in why veganism advocates for animal but not human life. How can these two identical subjects be treated as a dichotomy?Or is that just our 'human' way of justifying our choices? Why does our human lives matter more than an animal's if we cared for our own than surely we must then be able to care for others including animals.. Why do we have the 'big guys' petitioning to end animal slaughtered but the slaughtered of innocent babies..?

  • I personally advocate for all life.  Part of the reason I became vegan was because of how much less resource intensive it is than a meat based diet.  Which allows more crops to be repurposed for food for needy people.  As far as your last comment goes, that's an entirely different debate.  I think it comes down to freedom.  Even though I love being vegan and think others should be, I wouldn't want it to be enforced by law.  In the same way people should have the choice to have children, or not.

    • yeah I agree. i mean being pro-life and pro-vegan works for me but would i want it to be the law of the land? I think folks should be free to do whatever. I guess i'd hope that people would make the best ethical decision possible in any case without it having to be law per say. But then again murder is illegal for a reason so I dunno. I suppose it depnds on how one defines abortion and such. for me? its murder plain and simple. But laws aside I'd hope someone wouldnt murder another law or not.

But I do meet vegans that are pro-choice and then i wonder? how is it possible to be pro-choice and vegan?

Tho i have a family member who's catholic and pro-choice I always joke what does your pope have to say about that!! lol.
