How to get toned?

What is the best way to loose the last bit of tummy fat and get toned? I love running but I feel like it is making me "squishy" in the tummy section. I just can't seem to loose these last few pounds. I've done some weight lifting too but i'm wondering if i should just stick more to weightlifting to tone up my midsection? what do you guys think? Thanks for your help!

  • For anyone interested in started a new thread specifically to ask questions to Swon...since I'm planning to ask him a bunch of questions:

  • running+HIIT+weights

    • that's what I'm also wondering, i just tried starting this workout plan today with the full body workout and alternating to intervals tomorrow. Will I still get results like elizabeth said?
    • I've seen people get great results on HIIT.  It's an awesome style if you can keep up the motivation!  My buddies who do it are pretty high-energy naturally so they really enjoy it.

      • why on this hiit site does it promote high fat? http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/wotw40.htm its such a shame to see more people on the high fat wagon. do you think its possible to get results without eating their suggested way?

  • been at this diet over 18 months. been running and doing situps and pushups etc... long before that. my weights gone up and down the body fat percentatge went down then up but who knows maybe that meter is worthless. I still have that last little bit of fat around my waist and my inner thighs. All this despite the fact that i run 50-60 miles a week as well.

I give up on how to loose the last of it. i've read all the nonsense tips tried this tried that yeah whatever all BS it might work for some what do i know but in my case I think its simply going to take time and diligence.

I do the exercies now more so i can stay toned and feel good not because i'm tyring to loose the last of it. it seems pretty futile at this point. In time maybe I'l loose the last of it. I was over 100+ over weight at one point and I lost all that i would have thought by now I would have lost the last of it but I guess not.

    • On the food side of things, have you happened to have tracked what your fat intake is?  Like 10% or 5% or whatever?  I think long-term, I'm going to get the best aesthetics results from a 5% fat HCRV diet based on what I've read & seen in videos (particularly Chris Califano's Youtube stuff & various postings).

      • i'm almost always 5% or so.

  • Hi there, I love what Swon has written !

I just thought that I should mention the salt content of your cooked meals. A lot of sauces have a lot of salt and some frozen vegetables too ! Some times what looks like fat on the midriff is your bodys' little reservoir of water incase you need to cross a desert at a minutes notice :o) It looks like fat but it really is water. You can't always tell the difference. Maybe think about that ?

    Thanks !
