Hi guys,

I went rawtill4 about a month ago and have gained about 7 lbs (i'm 5'1 so that's a lot for me). I can easily eat 4,000 calories on this lifestyle.I'm worried because everyone else that I hear has also gained weight came from a past of calorie restriction and they eventually lost the weight. Unless my average of 2,000 calories a day for the last couple of years is considered bad enough that my body needs to heal from it, I don't think this is going to end well for me. I have been about 20 lbs overweight since childhood. I don't mind waiting a very very long time for the physical appearances to improve but I don't want to keep doing this only to find out that I will just get fatter and fatter! Has anyone else lost all their extra weight after initially gaining on Rawtill4 who did NOT come from a past of calorie restriction? What are your opinions of my previous average of 2,000 calories a day and does it count as calorie restriction? I have been raw till 4 but not low fat for the past 6 months prior to becoming the proper rawtill4. Right now I eat 3,000 to 4,000 calories a day mostly from fruit with rice, potatoes and vegan pizzas.

  • Thanks for all the responses they have been helpful! I will just begin my dinners with fruit so that I don't eat so much of the cooked food and see how that goes! I know if i just simply try to cut out cooked foods I will likely pay for it later, but hopefully in the future!

  • My advice would be to keep eating all the fruits you like but try and cut back a lot of the rice, potatoes, and especially vegan pizzas.  Maybe try replacing some of those with more fruit and some dark greens/vegetables :D

  • My eating-past: junk-food-vegetarian, sometimes slightly restricted, sometimes not
My highest weight in that time: 67 kilos
My weight when becoming vegan: 64 kilos
My weight initially did not change at all.
Then I got sick (drank water from a river) and went down to 62 kilos
I stopped eating ordered food and only ate my own.
I kept the 62 kilos for about a year.
I recently gained 2 kilos back and now am at 64 again.
Reason: 2 birthdays in short succesion with a lot of fatty vegan junk-food as presents (oreos, chips, nuts, pudding, nut-nougat-creme, breadspreads)

Oh, I'm generally eating much, much more than before volume-wise.

When all the "bad stuff" is used up, I'll not try to lose the 2 kilos again. I think that going back to HCLF might eventually help. But as long as my BMI is well in the normal range I don't feel like taking any countermeasures.

  • I don't think that it is possible to get fatter and fatter. I have gained 20 lbs initially, then my body released about 10 lbs and I hit the plateau now, eating as much as I care for, and that is 3000 on average. But I do have a past of disodered eating.

I will continue and see how it goes.

  • You could always look at Dr. Joel Furhman's Diet - it's called Nutritarian based on his book "Eat to Live" and it cuts out the nonessential foods that make you gain weight and shows you the foods that help you lose - and you can still eat as much as you want!  AND it's cancer preventative!  I've lost 10 lbs this last month after struggling with eating HCLFV!  I couldn't move the "Winter 10" as I call it for the previous YEAR!  It's still vegan, but better.  It fixes everything!  Look him up on youtube.
