  • Watch this, and check out some more of Nina and Randas YouTube channel. They have grown up vegan and can offer a great example of young health for your mom!

Also, I'm thinking since you're still growing, you may be able to include a little more fat than, say, 9/5/5 or even 8/1/1. I am not sure but I'd look into that if I were you? I just know younger children do require more fat. Not sure about teenagers. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!! ^_^
    • I don't count calories but I surely eat three meals depending on my hunger and stop when I'm full
    • I don't think you might need as many calories as this lifestyle recommends too.
    • Thnx a lot :)
  • Hi there! *does happy dance* I am 13 too! *gives you a high five* Yay another one! Okay so no being vegan won't stunt your growth if you do it right and eat enough.
    • Haha hi5 and yep ur righ if I eat enough I'm fine
  • I would like to commend you on your early path to health at a young age.  I wish I knew more about health when I was young.

People in some cultures, like some Hindus from India, eat vegetarian or vegan their whole lives.  They grow up, marry, have children, work, and even live to old age.

May be you can order a college nutrition book from a site like amazon.com?

Many of the modern books, while not promoting vegan, promote a diet high in fruits in vegetables, and decreasing animal products.

Outside of getting enough calories, make sure those calories are nutrient dense, ie compare nutrients in oranges to some brands of white bread or pasta.

Getting enough macro and micro nutrients, ie vitamins and minerals is important.  I think I told someone the other day, for example, make sure you get enough protein sure, but protein is just amino acids.  You can get all the amino acids you need from fruit, lettuce greens, and nuts and seeds.

Look up a lady on the internet ( I don't have her blog link at moment cause my browser crashed) Anne Osbourne.  She is fruitarian and raising her kids the same.  I think her one son has been raw his whole life.  And there are others like them too.

You can share the following with your family, the following lifestyle (not just about food) is great for long term success ie for those of us doing it 5 or more years:

Daily Recipe for Long Term Success:

    Good luck and Peace, PK

    • THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!! IM GOING TO PROVE THEM WRONG WITH SCIENTIFICAL EVIDENCE AND MY OWN RESULTS OVER TIME!! I HOPE I BECOME AND LEAN AND SHOW THEM WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!!

      • I think you should show them "healthy" instead of the focus being "lean."
