Interesting experience after 2 years HCV

Sweet foods=quick digestion. I'm a happy camper. I came to this lifestyle to cure my chronic constipation and I love SMASHING IN the !@#$%^& fruit and sweet potatoes and BUZZING with natural energy. No problems with "sweet starches" at all. Love them.

Starch=I can't do it. Some people say that if you go full starch solution you end up eating less and that it's the "binging" on starch that causes the bad digestion (constipation?).

Starch makes my  stools like hard little rocks. Anybody have the same thing going on?

I'd like to be able to eat starch. Maybe I have some kind of disease that makes me starch intolerant or something? I know there is something wrong with my body, otherwise eating starch would make me feel good like it does for everyone else. Until I figure out what's wrong with me (which may be never) I'm just gonna keep eating the foods that I can eat till I look like Buddha and 20 minutes later feel perfect. Seems like you have to either eat enough fruit so the starch doesn't really affect you as much, or practice lower-volume eating of starch (which I have not confirmed actually works)... or just eat sweets and make life easy.

  • Same here. I  have a crock pot and now sweet potatoes account for, like, a third of my calories! Following the feelgoods is def the way to go.

edit: yea i know they're a starch but I consider "sweet starches" different from plain old starches

  • Hey Brad :) Do you still have the hard poopey issues if you eat the starches with lots of raw veg such as carrots, capsicum and cucumber??

    • I haven't done that a lot honestly. This winter I was eating at least 2 pounds of steamed broccoli a day most days. Love it with lemon juice. I didn't notice any difference elimination-wise when I just skipped the veg and ate starch alone. There were times when I added just a very small amount of rice or potatoes to my regular routine and felt slowed down. Or if I eat just a couple undercooked potatoes it's TROUBLE. I do not have a properly working digestive system. (unless I'm living off sweets) I notice no magical effects from raw veg though. It's good stuff but doesn't undo the fact that I ate the starch. Know what I mean?

Some people do great on starch and have no problems with it regardless of what they eat it with. I like not having to mess around with food combining and just eating food that makes me feel good as a mono meal. Thinking I'm done trying to make the starch work for a while cuz it's not necessary.

      • Oh cool...you seem to be working it out :) I just have no issues if I eat rice with plenty of raw veg so I thought that might help you. Good luck with everything Brad! :D

        • Thank you for your response, ma'am.

Just curious, do cooked veggies help you too, or have you not done a lot of that?

Also, for anyone who's wondering, I'm still eating all that cooked broccoli and it hasn't been causing me any issues, besides having a really really full stomach!

          • Hey Brad :D Yeah we will eat other lightly cooked veg too sometimes but mainly sweet potatoes and white potatoes. We have no issues with them :) I eat at least 3 or 4 mono-meals of fruit before anything cooked and then when I do have something cooked, it is usually only one ingredient...such as the sweet potatoes or rice...the rest of the meal will be raw usually. Occasionally we will have a fully cooked meal such as quinoa pasta and homemade tomato sauce. Hope you are doing well!!

            • Very clean, nice going. I will definitely be eating more raw veg come summertime. Best wishes, my friend!
