Is it possible to loose a little weight and get toned eating as much as i do?i try to eat a few peaches maybe some grapes and bananas during the day and about 3 cups dry of rice at night, I've gained a lot of weight from having to recover at a eating disorder program that required me to go vegetarian and i went vegan when i got out which was about mid/beginning july. My stomach just looks like it has so much fat on it and i'm also a college student so I can't go raw and I only have access to the store once a week as i don't have my own car for now.I just want to get into the shape I had before and eat as much as I do but is it possible? I've also recently tried creating a new workout plan with 30 min cardio and then about 30-45 min of weight lifting. Thanks for all your advice!:)

  • Jessie, I'm glad you've sought help before and continue to do so.  You didn't run into trouble over night, and the road of recovery may still be a long and challenging one.  This is true mentally/emotionally/spiritually, and physically as well.  The stresses you've endured will take time to heal, and sometimes it can feel like several steps backward for every one forward.

You'll find it's best to focus on building overall health, shown in detail below, rather than the number on a scale or your image in a mirror.

Based on your brief description, it looks like you've significantly undereating.  As you'll note, we recommend a minimum of 2500 cals daily for ladies.  If this is out of sight right now, that's understandable.  Just eat as much as you desire if high cal foods, then just a few bites more.  Over time, you'll gain the ability to eat appropriate with each meal.

We're here to walk alongside you in your recovery.  Please don't hesitate to ask questions and for aid in the future.

    • Minimum Calories: Females: 2500 Males: 3000
    • Whole, raw, ripe plant foods. (ie RT4: Steam potatoes: not a bag of chips.)
    •  ½-2 heads of lettuce greens.  (Not high oxalate kale, chard, and spinach.)
    • Get a palm of raw nuts or seeds.
    • Low fat: not no fat! (5-10% of calories average)
    • Simple and or mono meals. Rotate foods over days for maximum nutrient exposure.
    • Drink enough water. Urinate (almost) clear.
    • Early nights with 8-12 hours for rest, repairs, and muscle fat burning.  Get some zzz before midnight.
    • Exercise and resist gravity 30 minutes.
    • Sunbathe 30 minutes daily for vitamin D and healthy bones and teeth.
    • Lower stress triggers.  Stress releases weight gain hormones.

  • It's possible but it's gonna take time.

Wanting to have a flat stomach while recovering from an eating disorder is like expecting a grown tree as soon as you plant the seeds. It is a process, it requires patience and it will come in due time. It's gradual you might not even realise it.

Some people take only a few days, some people months, and some people years. It depends on how much you damaged your body before and how fast your body repairs itself.

    Enjoy the process.
