Jamie Oliver's 'croc-killing' adventure

I guess this is more of a rant.. So my friend just told me Jamie Oliver not only shot a crocodile recently on TV during his 'American Road Trip' but also 'taught' his 8year old daughter to slaughter an innocent croc as well (all which was shown on the box). I only have 'dial up' internet so I can't confirm this but if anyone does I would like to know if this is true. Unfortunately it wouldn't suprise me as he is getting more and more barbaric as time goes on. here is one link... Jamie's Murderous trip Jamie has really taken a nose-dive in my opinion, I realise he is 'governed' by a lack of consciousness in this area but he sure as hell won't be getting my support anytime soon unless he turns vego & starts singing it from the rooftops. Here is a comment regarding his actions that i think sums it up nicely: Disgusting. Utterly disgusting. Oliver shows zero respect for this animal. After everything he tried to teach us, after all the respect he commanded after making people aware of what they were eating, he blew it away, literally. I will never watch or buy anything to do with this idiot again. Shame on you. And another: I have learnt to respect Jamie Oliver, not my cup of tea but a talented chef and seems to genuinely care, I was delighted when he linked with Tinity Hospice in Clapham with a great idea to encourage people to cook with friends and raise money for a wonderful charity. I live in Battersea and despite initial reservations about his shop Recipise I now shop there regularly, its good value and great ingredients. But I was dismayed and angry watching the crocodile execution last night on channel 4. I eat meat and watch various programs educating us where meat comes from: but this was something else. This was a wild animal slaughtered with no sensitivity or skill and it was disturbing to watch. Despite his 'explaination' of his father taking him to shoot rabbits this was a disgrace. I lived in New Orleans and I think that woman was not a true representation of the people or the pratice. Sometimes its more important to challenge than agree, I will be haunted by that wild beast staring up and being shot repeatedly. Shame on him and shame on Channel 4.

  • Well said on this issue, Freelea. Glad you have the guts and brains to stand up against this nonsense.
    • thanks Maltron :) I was just thinking... in life sometimes certain things aren't going the way i planned them to go (as expected!) and I have a moment of.. 'oh this isn't fair...' or something to that vibe and play the 'victim' for a bit.. then i slap myself around and go 'Hey there are animals & peeps dying needlessly every minute of the day and i'm having a 'poor me' moment...get a grip!'....contrast is a great wake-up call!
      • there are a some other ways to look at it too, freelea, in addition to the excellent one you have expressed:

        1. when life give you lemons, make lemonade

        2. when things don't go the way you planned, may be there is a better plan

        3. from lao tzu: "by not wanting there is calm and the world can straighten itself"

i will now take advantage of the calm and go to sleep.

        in friendship,
        prad
