Joint stiffness

In the last couple of days I have had unpleasant symptoms, been waking up feeling very stiff, it goes away as soon as I start moving and have a hot shower, today it sort of lasted through the day, not too bad aches but still there, this is very strange, I do think its related to my food, perhaps because I ate rice a two or three  times last week? I am eating small amounts like one cup . Also, the beans, similar amounts, I soak both rice and beans for 24 or 48 hours before cooking and change the water regularly.  I only consume those during in my transitional cooked meal.

I haven’t had a chance to get the omega 3 yet, so not sure if any specific deficiency is causing this, or if I am alergic to specific fruit - I have been trying to avoid night shades for the last week or so.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know, and I will keep searching myself. Meanwhile I will stop the rice, to see if it’s causing me the issues.

  • I was thinking about what else triggers my fibromyalgia symptoms, and ElectroMagnetic Radiation (EMR) is another thing that triggers it. And I'm more sensitive to it if I'm dehydrated and/or have been eating grains. Do u spend a lot of time near an electrical current, like a power board, computer tower or monitor?
    • Heh, I work in IT, so sitting in front of a computer all day,  evenings also sitting with my laptop on my lap!!
  • Hi, thanks ladies, I started this about early May, I did a low carb high fat diet for many years before, for the first 2 to 3 weeks I stuffed myself to be able to reach 2000 or 2500 but I had constant bloating and was so uncomfortable, so decided not to stuff myself and be comfortable, try to do this gradually, so for the last two weeks I ate to hunger,  then only this last week I introduced rice/legume to my transition cooked meal - before that my transitioning evening meal was slightly cooked veg.  My digestion felt really good on rice and legume, so I had a cup of each every day for the last week,  when I felt this joint pain, I immediately stopped the grains and legume, so yesterday no joint pain, but this odd feeling in my lower legs and feet (shins to feet)

When I first started and stuffed myself I had a lot of energy and ran 5 miles or equivalent in exercise every day, but since I stopped stuffing myself, I am not motivated to exercise.

I haven’t' had any accidents before, and only had the stiff joints in the last couple of days - actually stiff joints all over my body for one day, then just heavy heavy legs.

I could drink more water, and I went back to drinking green tea since the stiff joints is back.

Not enough sunshine here in the last couple of weeks, also I work in an office, all day and don't get a chance to get out in the sun

  • If you are sensitive to nightshades or wheat or anything, even a small amount can cause symptoms. Maybe go through elimination and add things back in to test for allergies.
    • for the last couple of weeks I have been avoiding nightshades.

I started by eliminating grains and legumes, lets hope this is it.

  • Well, joint stiffness gone today, I slept well, and covered myself well,  thought perhaps I was just exposed to a cold draft last night.  So was happy today with it gone, but suddenly this evening I have this ache in my lower leg, around the shin area, I couldn’t sit for long, I had to stretch and stretch, fiddle with my legs/ankles.

I am sorry to sound like a hypochondriac, but the attack yesterday and today were so acute, yesterday every joint was sore, today only shin and foot area, no idea what this is, I never had it before.

Anyone thinks this could be a deficiency? I am not 100% 811, and I haven’t been doing this for such a long period that I’d have such a deficiency.  Is it detox? Anyone had something like this?  Its a bit scary.

    • I would guess it's just your body cleaning house if you're new to 811 and are still transitioning. Also, all grains and legumes hurt my joints. You are not going to develop a deficiency in a matter of weeks or even a few months on this diet unless you're severely undereating. Even then it'd take some time. Eat more greens if your worried about omega oils.
  • Thanks RawKeys, I just had a memory flash, I used to be a vegetrian about 15 years ago - I say vegetarian, but I hated milk and hardly ate any cheese, but anyway, I remember having days when I was soooooo tiered and exhausted, some days I couldn't lift up my arm, I think such days and the fact I got colds often made me quit being vegetarian at the end, I sure hope this doesn't happen to me again.
