  • You can lose weight on any diet. The bigger question is whether you retain your energy levels, health, life purpose, happiness, success, and sanity on a sustainable lifestyle.

    • I wouldn't say that.  You can lose weight temporarily on some diets but it often comes right back.  I've seen it too many times now.

Not very many ways to eat for permanent weight loss.

      • Yes, I've mentioned losing weight, but certainly did not imply keeping it off, either. (:

  • Check out: riceandraw.tumblr.com!!
  • Ummmm, I was 100% high carb raw vegan for almost a year loved it!!!! But I fell off the wagon and couldn't stick with it!?!? Wasn't sure why, no amount of fruit satisfied me, and I would keep failing, and  on fatty foods, like hummus... Sooo I tried the Dr.McDougall wayyyy.. I am still very high raw, all day actually except, for my huge starchy  cooked evening meal(s). Guess what, I totally lost weight!!! Not that I am promoting cooked, but i feel sooo good, content, energetic, more even~keeled, and totally satisfied and I eat to my hearts content.  And no more 'water retentive' feeling!!! The funny thing is I never feel starving anymore!!! I know these carbs are finally feeding my body and nourishing me :) I hope to make it back to all raw, but I am content now with this was~o~eating. And this lovely website still welcomes me,  'cooked faults and all'... so far :))) I even lost weight!! I am under 120 which I have never been in my whole adult life...  So I get all fruity and veggied up during the day, and then enjoy my starch~ys and more fruits and veggies at night! :) It is heaven on earth for me :) And this leaning out  I'm seeing is something I never experienced before... Hope that this helps but doesn't detour you from being and 100% fruity! ;)

    • I'm doing what you describe as my "transition" -- but am so happy, that I may stick with it.  I haven't lost weight (only been eating this way 2 months) but I haven't gained any either.  Not gaining while eating 2000 -4000K on most days, AND feeling like a million bucks, is good news for me.  I think I might like to alternate 1 raw day for one "fruit all day and starchy vegan dinner" day.  I could probably do that easily enough.

    • This is really inspiring to me because I am still in love with cooked rice and corn! I am so happy to hear this has worked for someone!

  • Hi Ashlee,

Yes it does work, check Dr Fuhrman's eat to live (no fat & no grains ) or Dr McDougall's Program (no fat but this time grains are allowed ), although I really don't recommend grains because they're so addictive, this should give you an idea about cooked low fat high carb diets.

    I hope that helps :)

    • Yeah, thanks for your reply. I have read that book and I even own 2 copies. Its a great book but the recommended calories are between 1400-2000 and I know I need more than that daily. But if I'm trying to lose weight I don't wanna be starving or feeling dead. I might be able to adjust it some:) Thanks for the recommendation:)

  • Most of china, most of thailand, most of east asia really, ...all medieval peasants, a lot of people stay slim on low fat cooked diets.
