Well, I've loved animals all my life.Until recently, I didn't eat much to begin with, eating disorder possibly, but I have a psychological issue with food to begin with.Without getting int the whole story and boring everyone, I grew up in a household (just my father) of him criticizing what I hate and how I hate.It got to the point he'd put locks on the fridge.I rarely ate at home (to avoid him) so always out, this is years ago.Now I"m living on my own and I still just find food to be an annoyance and a pain. However veganism is simple, because I can eat the majority foods raw, no cooking. But sometimes I find they don't satiate my hunger and I need more, this is where I cheat sometimes.I'm trying pretty hard and struggling and really need to stop.If anyone has suggestion or personal experience of how they over cam this, I would love to get some advice, hear some stories, etc.I want to win this battle, as I want to stop eating flesh (call it what it is), I noticed I felt so much better after a few days of eating healthier (sunflower seeds, dates, kiwis -like they're going out of style). Now I'm getting a blender and ready to try smoothies.Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to explain myself properly to give people an idea of who I am, what is going on in my mind and how I'd like to go completely MEAT/DAIRY free. Thanks guys.

  • Hey :) Make sure you're eating a variety of foods to get all your nutrients with a focus on calorie-dense foods to start. Cravings are normal when you've eaten certain foods all your life but making sure you're getting enough calories of plant foods will definitely help. Getting in your 5-10% of fats will help with feeling satiated as well. Cronometer is a great app for ensuring you're getting all your vitamins and minerals.

My advice would be that as you're transitioning to a vegan lifestyle, maybe don't focus so much on being raw/rt4 and just focus on being vegan for now. Unless eating raw meals is working for you :)

  • thats wonderful that you want to be vegan, it's a choice you won't regret. how many calories are you eating? I find I need to eat 2500-3500 cals to feel satisfied and maintain weight. try some rice,  pasta, potatoes, bread, and beans for dinners and lunches. I started eating mock meats and fats and carbs for all meals then slowly became rt4.

for ease of cooking: bananas, dates, apples, oranges, every fruit ever, tinned baked beans, frozen veges, hummus, bread, and low fat instant noodes.

best of luck with all this. :)
