Packing fruit & Best Bottle for Smoothie Transport?

Hey all!

Just another poor college kid here. Starting the end of this month, I will be returning to school. I have to leave home at 7:45 everyday to catch the bus. I find it hard to eat before leaving home since I would be forcing so much food down in such a short amount of time - walking to the bus stop would be painful. My morning classes end at 10:30, but I get home about 40 mins later, so I don't think it's very smart for me to skip breakfast until I go home either.

I packed bananas in a lunch bag last year, it got all mashed and my hands got dirty. Plus, I don't think it's very polite to eat in class - besides the fact that all my classmates would be weird-ed out. Therefore I think it would be best for me to prepare a smoothie in the morning. It just that I don't know if there are any bottles out there that can fully accommodate my 640z vitamix blender-full of smoothie. Should I just eat less for breakfast and have a bigger lunch? I tried bringing dried fruit like dates to school, but it was even messier and I felt so thirsty despite finishing my water bottle that I had to drink the water fountain and got a terrible stomachache afterwards. :P

For those that work, go to school, or are compelled to eat outside of home, how do you deal with the situation?

  • I use a Bubba thermal jug for my smoothies. It can accommodate almost an entire blenderful.

Here's link to what they look like http://www.amazon.com/bubba-52-mug-classic-black/dp/B003XFUKWM

  • Quart glass jars are my preference, and you can even get some nice plastic lids to fit them that work way better than the usual 2 piece nested metal ones.

    • yep. always used mason jars.

    • Oh yeah, I can divide the smoothie in half! I'm having a it's-so-obvious-now-yet-why-did-I-not-think-of-it moment right now.

      Thanks :)
