Red meat and type II diabetes

I was looking at the Harvard food pyramid. I noticed something strange, some of the same studies I was referencing were used by Harvard. Yet, the opponents of raw vegan were mocking me. I say if the study is good enough for Harvard its good enough for me.

Science may be slow and methodical but it is catching on. Current science doesn't agree with the raw vegan diet yet, but as you can see its catching up. If you look at the above link you will find some awesome references for why the high meat eaters do not have science on their side.

Type II diabetes and red meat.

I find this article of significance because many people who are disillusioned with orthodox medicine turn to the paleo diet at one point. I myself included, btw I'm no longer paleo. :) Seeing that sugary soda is associated with diabetes they take the guess that the paleo diet will cure or control their diabetes. In other words, carbohydrates are the enemy to a diabetic paleo.

One of my childhood friends is a diabetic so I always payed special attention to diabetes. It was always avoid sugar like the plague. Now why would red meat cause type II diabetes? If you read the 80/10/10 diet Graham explains why.

Also of note is the connection between heart disease and red meat, no surprise here yet I think it needs to be reiterated from time to time.

What about dairy? "Too much dairy. The guidelines’ recommendation to increase the intake of low-fat milk and dairy products seems to reflect the interests of the powerful dairy industry more so than the latest science. There is little, if any, evidence that eating dairy prevents osteoporosis or fractures, and there is considerable evidence that high dairy product consumption is associated with increased risk of fatal prostate and maybe ovarian cancers." harvard.edu

Wow, right there on the Harvard website. Little if any evidence that eating dairy prevents osteoporosis. This isn't some random person's blog. Yet, just a few months ago I saw a magazine at Wegman's showing a girl with wings made out of milk. At my local Giant supermarket I saw a charity to give poor children milk. This has to stop this is irrational and destructive.

Science isn't the enemy, we are just ahead of the game. Science hasn't caught up to us yet. More importantly political change is even slower than science. Use these scienfic resources to speed up political change in favor of a healthier diet. To the best of my knowledge this pyramid has been up on the Harvard website for years, yet people still eat red meat and drink dairy.
