rice or potatoes?

So i'm trying to really get back into a healthy exercise pattern as well as a healthy eating pattern. I feel like i'm not loosing the pudgy or soft look i still have and i think the problem is the amount of rice i eat. i can eat more than 2 cups dry and i was wondering if eating more potatoes instead of rice will help my body image?

  • I wonder if it matters white rice vs brown. I recently switched from brown to white just to see how things go. White seems to digest better for me and honestly i like the taste better. But I also noticed get the blood sugar spikes off it IE after i stuff my face i wanna nap more so on white then brown.

I know they say brown is best but in terms of weight control and eating this way does it matter?

  • Seeing that 100 grams of dry rice has around 350 calories or so and one cup is about 200 grams that means two cups of dry rice has about 1,400 calories.

If you were to consume potatoes amounting to 1,400 calories you would be eating 1.75kg of potatoes.

Potatoes have about 80 calories per 100 grams as they contain so much water.

You may find that you won't be able to eat the said amount of potatoes.

I often hear people saying 'potatoes are fattening' to which I respond by saying that they are talking rubbish. These same people top their potatoes with liberal amounts of cheese, sour cream, butter and the like which are dense forms of calories.

  • If you cook your own food then eat as much as you want out of those two options, just eliminate the oils when cooking them. It does make a difference. Good luck.
