Sommosas =(

So Im Indian and enjoy Indian food. Ive only been vegan for a couple months now, about 56 days and Im lovin it. I still get Indian styled cooked vegan foods from my family, but there were frozen sommosas in the fridge. I noticed them the other day and got all happy till I read that hoe had 800 mg of sodium per sommosa and I was like screw that. Well today I got back from the gym with my sister and she says I want somosas. She asked if I wanted some, 4 for her and 4 for me, and I said one if that. They got done and I caved and ate 2 than went back for a third. Ive been all about no salt since last summer. But was misinformed by people who were misinformed and so continued my salt intake. I was also called a pottasium junkie by my proffessor last semester cause I walked in class every day eating pottasium rich foods. So now Im wondering if this means the salt will tip my balance in favor of the saltiness that is salt. Ive already eaten more than the amount of salt I had in the somosa of pottasium in bannanas and plantains and carrots but Im wondering how long will it be till the crud is out of my body. Im hoping its not sodium flouride becuase I spent all last year getting detoxed of that and yesterday I was like well theres no reason to worry about it to much becuase its basicly completely out of my diet. But its still in the bath water, still used to clean forks and plates, still in the hose I use to water my freshly planted seedlings. Now Im just like, damn, when will the madness end? Can I ever not have to suspect stress in every aspect of life? -Flouride very literaly is stress so is salt as most of you know- I just thought I would express my dissapointment in our societies lack of love for the wellbeing of others water, food, air, and our planet, and ask if anyone knows how long it takes for salt to be flushed out of the body.

Preciate yalls time!!!

  • Yea but I want more than enough hahaha

  • I know but only some have a significant amount, to me any ways like grapefruit is the most alkaline food in the world I pretty positive being alkaline has to do with the oxygen, pottasium, and vitamin C content but its less than 200 mg of pottasium where avocados have over 700

  • I believe pottasium to be the most important nutrient next to water and air we need, So I try to consume as much as I can, Before I was limiting myself to 4700 a day cuase thats the rda now IDC and am trying to get around 10 k a day but that doesnt always happen

  • Alot haha I didnt want the samosa cuase of the salt haha, I dont realy have a desire for salt at all I have a desire for pottasium and indian food hahaha

  • What others said, all good sources of organic salt - my favourite drink for salt cravings is juice made from tomatoes and lots of celery. :)
    My guess is, it was less the salt and more the cooked status of that meal that tempted you...

    I wouldn't worry about slipping too much, you will most likely find yourself holding some water after the night, the body's way of buffering the chemistry... You may feel not so great and it may take two days to get back on track, but then all should be forgotten. You also may take a mental note to not go back to eating like that again, but that may be forgotten at some later point. I'm speaking from experience, I'm afraid to admit. lol
    Falling off the wagon isn't a bad thing, as long as you get right back on it! :)
    • yea definately the samosa an not the salt is what tempted me. Im supprised everyones commenting on natural salty foods haha yea Im back on track it shocked the hell out of me tho all the ingrediants were natural except with an un natural amount of salt. I really like zuchinis tho! I havent had a cucumber in a while but I was muchin on em when I found out they help with a reduction in the probability of prostate cancer and since my uncle had it i was at a higher risk. but than again all people who consume animal fat are at a higher risk for it. Damn I had a cantaloupe for breakfast yesterday or post work out IDR haha

  • Not sure if you eat them but Cucumbers, tomatoes (especially the right variety) and Zucchini are all high in natural salts :)

  • oh lol those arent specificly in the foods I eat often if ever haha I had a beet for the first time a couple weeks back never had chard an Idk the last time I had celery. but good to know! thanks man!

  • realy? I didnt realy think there were any sodium rich greens? I thought basicly all salt was added I found maybe 20mg at most in natural foods. But that does kinda go with Ayurveda thinking. 1 of like 8 different taste and you need is salty and you have to balance them in order for your brain to feel satisfied. I dont typicaly want salty foods I just wanted Samosas -_- lol
