Starting out

Hey Everybody, great to be here!

I discovered Freelee and this site just yesterday and can't stop watching her videos on Youtube.. they're amazing!

I'm from Melbourne Australia, I'm a professional singer performing in cover bands around Melbourne and writing my own material.. I have been very fit and health conscious for the last 10 years but still have fat that won't budge! It's time to take the next step!!

SO.. today was my first day just eating fruit and greens -

But with any previous new eating plan I have tried, I am still feeling like I want to eat something!

I come from the school of low fat, high protein (meat/fish/eggs) and carbs early in the day, and this has always worked well for me when I stick to it (eat a small 'clean' meal every 3-4 hours, lean meats with salads etc etc and NO junk) but I really want to take the next step to becoming vegan..

It's 10:40pm and I've had lots of bananas, a few other fruits, a green salad and about 35 olives today, and right now I feel like eating something.. my tummy is not rumbling with hunger, but it's just not satisfied!

What I want to know is.. Is this feeling normal, and something that my body will get used to, or is this how I am going to feel most of the time? Because I'm not going to last as a vegan if this is the case!

Can I get other people's stories about how they felt when they first started going vegan/raw/fruitarian and how they coped?? and how long will this last before I start to feel flatter and more energised?

Or is it just that I haven't eaten enough???

Let me know experts! I await your replies!

Thanks!! J x

  • You should get Doug Grahams book, 80/10/10 answers all the new questions much better than trying to get it off here ( although great, sometimes distracting and not all answers are very good). I am only in the start of my 3rd month and had a hard time getting use to the feeling of my stomach emptying quickly, this is not true hunger. Also I personally felt very unsatisfied and still struggle with these feelings. Cooked food numbs you from feeling alot of thing in your emotional body, we think of it as comfort. So I suggest if your getting plenty of calories and still feeling empty that you may be dealing with your emotions. Look at how you can nourish your emotional body and come to understand your new sensitivity, you may all so have past emotional toxins that are coming up now that you are not numbing your self with cooked food. Hope this helped, I had to read Dr Grahams book to understand this for my self. ;)
    • Helen that is very helpful thank you for your reply! I think I did not eat enough yesterday - smoothies will be a great help - I am sipping a smoothie right now of bananas dates and a handful of blueberries, got 3 full glasses worth out of it - I am full but going to finish the 3rd glass!

I just got a .pdf of the 80-10-10 book, I will start reading it tonight, I may even print it out bit by bit as I hate reading off the computer!

Thanks everyone again I appreciate the support!! Have a great day! J x

  • Thank you everyone! Lots of info here! I will try and eat more today and I will check out the beginners page thanks Alison! You're all so helpful it's great! Have a wonderful day!! J x

  • Hi there !  It's called hunger!  Smoothie is a great idea!  Or anything fruity!

  • Eat as much fruit as you want.(2500kcals minimum-track it in cronometer)

You're just hungry so have a huge smoothie from ripe bananas or something. Be careful with olives-they're too high in fat.

    Have a nice fruity day

    • Thank you! ..Even this late at night?? I am used to 'don't eat after 7pm' ..Does this apply to vegan/fruit diets? It's now after 11pm! (I will go to bed shortly!!)

      • doug was talking about late night eating and said no problem and the problems are when you eat complex carbs and hard to digest stuff.

      • It's not optimal to eat late in the evening. But sometimes-when you haven't got enough calories during tha day-it doesn't matter. Just have that smoothie as soon as possible. Better to be carbed up that to starve yourself or binge on cooked unhealthy foods.
