I've done countless google searches. I've been to doctors. I can't find a solution.
Does anyone have any information on what can cause (and relieve) swollen salivary glands. Especially the parotid (at the bend in the jaw near the earlobe). One known cause is stones in the ducts, but that is not the case here as occasionally the swelling will go down dramatically, then be back up the next day. Also, the swelling is always bilateral.
It seems to be somewhat prevalent amongst bulimics and alcoholics, but again, neither of those situations apply here.
I've seen some pics/videos of Doug Graham where he seems to have them.
I am wondering if it is due to too much water (theory being it creates a mineral/electrolyte imbalance **in certain people**. This would kind of go along with it being common in bulimics and alcoholics. They can have electrolyte imbalances, but due to other causes. There are a fair number of people who suffer from this, and it can really distort your face.
Besides too much liquid, the only other theory I have is oxalates, but that doesn;t seem to be it, either.
Any thoughts?

ETA I also have a "slow" lymphatic system so that was adding to my too-much-liquid-for-me theory. I do exercise every day and am rarely sedentary for an hour at a time. If I don't move fluid tends to "pool."
