Hey!
So I have been living in Cairns now for about two months and loving it. I have friends but none are vegan and I do feel very lonely at times because I don't drink or go out. I would love some friends to make food with, go on bike rides, hikes and the gym with. Anyone out there wanting to meet up and do some fun stuff :) I am going to wait it out in Cairns a little longer and if I dont find many like minded people I am going to relocate somewhere else! (I am canadian and have almost my whole second year left on my visa). If anyone has any suggestions of places around Aus aswel with a bigger vegan community let a sister know! Even tips on how to connect more.

We are down in Mission Beach...I only know 3 other vegans here also ;/
In Cairns there is a bike shop called Bicycle Centre Cairns. There is a guy in there (sorry, can't remember his name) who is a vegan and is a big presence in the Cairns vegan scene. He organises the Cairns Fruit Festival. His ex lady puts signs up in the town to go watch Cowspiracy and does other vegan activism. They seem like awesome people...thought you might like to chase them up.
Also, the boys from Sweet Natural Living are in Cairns at the moment. I met them at the market couple weeks back. You could connect with them on their youtube channel. They are great guys...raw vegan and very intelligent. They are friendly and open. They said I made their day cos I recognised them, approached them and when I said 'You famous!', they said 'Well we sure feel like it now!' :D They are def worth chasing up! They will reply to you on their channel...I talk to them often.

Thanks so much for this message! I have actually been looking into purchasing a bike before i head to thailand so hopefully i bump into him :) I have taken your advice and reached out to these guys and have been watching their youtube videos too haha!
I'm sure it just takes time to make friends especially who have interests in something so specific. I actually did meet this lovely girl at the market who is a high carb vegan raw til 4 and lives in a house with people who are all high carb vegans, she gave me her number to come over for a meal when i get back from Canada. I'm sure with time it will all fall into place :D
