Weight Gain :(

Hey guys.. this is probably a really common discussion but I'm pretty new and I need help.

I've been raw eating bananas/dates/greens/other fruits for about 2 weeks and I do Raw til 4 here and there… but I do like squash pasta (all my own veggie ingredients) but I'm gaining weight.

I've only had cooked a few times and I'm okay staying raw but.. am I eating too much? Has anyone else gone though this?

Is this just what the lifestyle will do to me?

Any tips/advice would be really great… esp if you've gone through this.

  • I'm new too and I've been worried about the weight gain. Like you said my weight jumped up 6 lbs in a day! Although I've been great drinking water (peeing every freakin 30 min), I feel like a bloated balloon. I'm worried that as I adapt to this lifestyle I'll fall off the bandwagon. I don't think I can wait a year or longer for all my weight to slough off. How long does it take to see results? I came from a restrictive anorexic diet and having all this new chub on my body is really deterring.

  • This is literally what I am petrified of when starting this lifestyle. I'm already over my ideal weight (highest I've ever been actually- 163 lbs and 5'6" :P) But from what I've read, it'll dissipate eventually. How has it been going for you since you posted this? :)

    • Hey!

I know its horrifying when you "gain weight" on this lifestyle, but everyone was right… it wasn't fat that I gained, and as long as you stay LOW TO NO fat, it won't be for you either. :)

      Here's my update:

      1. The way I knew I didn't gain any fat is because depending on my diet, my weight would fluctuate. It would go from 141 - 147/148! … and you may not believe this.. but sometimes within a day!

      2. I had a lot of problems with melon belly/ bloating even though I do mostly mono meals and drink LOADS of water.. at the right time of course. I still deal with these problems when I eat too much but if I eat the right foods for a few days, my weight tends to go back down to 141.

3.The biggest tip I have for anyone who is having these problems is to EAT WATER RICH/CITRUS FRUITS!!! because these foods are so rich in water and fiber, your body can digest them SUPER fast. This helps flatten your belly and get rid of all bloating and unwanted weight. (Watermelon, grapefruit, oranges, and smoothies)

Also, Lettuce and lemon juice is your best friend. Such a yummy snack and for those people that haven't mastered digestion yet, it  lets you eat and snack as much as you want without getting bloated/too full/fat and actually helps me digest my other food (I think free lee also mentioned that in one of her vids :))

  • Ok,

    I'm about 5'8. I started out weighing about 141.5 (from high protein/veggie 800 cal/day diet.. (yeah i know)).

I ate consistantly throughout the day though, hoping to boost my metabolism and I've prettymuch always eaten consistantly throughout the day.

I switched to HCLF raw vegan and havent fallen off, but I started to incorporate a few cooked veg meals.

    Food

Now I try to do 1,000 cal monomeals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast and lunch are easy to do.. but dinner tends to be lighter.

-My usual breakfast is eather an apple smoothie or a banana smoothie and today it's delicious cuties ^-^.

-My Usual lunch will be either 8-10 bananas or a box of dates from jewel.

-My dinner WAS salad/a green smoothie/ some more fruit and never was that large of a meal.

    Water

I'm usually really good with this, except when bloating made me uncomfortable, but otherwise I drink about a gallon a day.

I didnt really gain that much weight in the first few weeks (maybe a pound or two..) but I had a few cooked meals (all pasta squash) and now im 147.

I know its not a huge difference but I'm sure people can relate on the horror of gaining all the weight back..  I just want to do  what ever i can to stop it before it happens.. and im really scared when I gain its going to be my "natural weight"... because I've always been a little chubbier my whole life.

Any suggestions would really really help:)

    • thats not too huge of a weight gain. to be honest the fibrous foods in your gut + the now extra carbs you get hanging on to water is all it might be. Heck compared to how you used to eat you might have a few extra lbs of just food on board at all times.

      • ^

  • Maybe U come from restrictiv diet ...so U will gain also...I do come from that and I gain a lot but I do understand that it´s need to be cos of what I have don before...body now need time to heal. So I just do what I should now I eat rawtill4 I excercise and I try my best...

    • Yes i do! :) To be honest I just fear when I gain it I wont lose it.. have you found any tips that works better than others?

      • Sorry I didn´t write back... But yee like others the best is when U eat enought and at the same time every day..I don´t mean it like countdown every sec but try to keep it like a rutine.... for me also work best if i drink water before my meals at least 1h before :) And about waight yee I know what U feel it´s by my just the same I was soo crazy worry when I see those kg coming back, but U need do do this U need to break U´re self thro it, I´m still at the point that I´m gaining waight...And I can tell U I gain a lot back, but I understand that after what I was doing before...I tall with people who was and are in this same situation :D and that helps too... So don´t worry we are not the only one...We  just need to keep it up and in the end it need to be good like by many others :D
