What to do with those dried figs ?

Since dried figs are too high in fat in my opinion (like 90/5/5 more than 80/10/10)  I do not want to eat the big pack I bought recently on itself. And those figs are very hard, so I think I'm gonna soak them. But what then ? Anybody here who can offer me a recipe for a smoothie or something else that includes some (or many, that would be best ^^) soaked dried figs ?

  • I love figs in banana smoothies for heaven's sake. The magic of them is that they have been proven, on this thread, to combine fabulously with all foods. I'll take them in any form. What a beautiful fucking plant

I am the skinny, sexy, freaky, energetic and metrosexual musician hippie space alien guy at my two jobs, that eats figs all shift, every shift, 7 days a week. "what is his diet anyway?"....Still workin on it

  • I'm just gonna say I FUCKING LOVE DRIED FIGS and they are my highest source of calories (yes my diet needs work but I love it) before I even read this whole thread. Bananas are on the up and up, still learning that they need to be organic or at least "organic" and riper than roadkill

main concern is whether they are scratching my intestines. scary stuff o no

Feels better than anything in the world so I keep eating em

  • I really like soaking calimyrna figs for an hour or two and then eating them in a salad with romaine or spinach. Just make sure to remove the stem tip first and drink the delicious soaking water.

    • You could also just soak them a bit till soft.. process them and use them as a jam to stuff celery or what ever

  • Actually I was talking about this fig-mint-smoothie :)

For the other one I took 1 part figs, 3 part orange juice and 2 parts water. You can put in 1-3 parts of water, depending on how sweet you like it.

  • He's weird. I like that ^^ Well I've tried this smoothie (without hemp seeds and salt and stuff, just grape juice, dried figs, some water and mint leaves) and it's great. A minty marzipan-shake. Yummy ! Did you already try this recipe ?

  • Looked it up :  100g contain 304 kcal, 2,7g protein and 2,7g fat. You are right, it fits the 80/10/10-model. Anyhow, I needed ideas :)

  • my mom boils hers in orange juice and makes a jam to spread on cheese and crackers... the jam is DELICIOUS... and would probably be awesome smeared on apple slices or something... maybe even soak them in OJ overnight and send them through the blender

    • Such a nice Idea, I think I need to buy some more of those figs if you guys keep inspiring me ;)

      Thank you, Heather !

      • Did it. I made a fig-orange-juice-smoothie. It was heaven, like liquid, fruity marzipan. Gotta get more dried figs :D Thank you so much !
