why am i so 'against' the snake oil peddlers?

i know most of em personally. some nice people out there just trying to make a buck on newbies ignorance or experienced peoples apathy.

what gets my durian spikes up is when the pill pushers and powder pumpers start diss'n fruit. they say fruit is hybridised. and then you open up there pantry and they have genetically modified ingredients in the cooked food that most of em eat. crew can eat what they want for sure, but why diss mother natures most perfect carbs source for humans?

people say fruit has too much sugar and then they sell agave, yacon, honey, maple etc. these are REFINED SUGAR..lol! fruit with fiber is bad? and refined fiberless sugar in a jar is good? lol!

more people are hearing about raw than ever before. and more people are being turned away by the health concerns that arise when people eat such a high fat diet with stimulants like cacao, yerbe mate, maca etc and then top it off with some refined sugar in a jar..but as long as its raw vegan and organic right? lol!

sure lets enjoy our transition food aka McDougall meals. lets be aware that its just an transition phase and that fruits and greens are the longterm goal. a goal we must reach as fast as possible yet as slowly as neccessary.

ok, thanks for hearing my rant. my goal is to make this thread the most honest, open and thought stimulating thread in the raw community today. my guarantee is that i speak the truth as i see it. the raw truth as i walk it. and those that mind, do not matter. and those that matter, do not mind..

  • Does anyone know about effects, benefits etc. of consuming cinnamon or carob powder?  Definitely not into cacao at all, horrible stuff but what about carob?  Just not sure.  Don't want to consume spices at all but cinnamon seems to be ok, or is it?  And I don't know anything about carob.  Thanks.  Send me a message.  Aloha!

  • Durianrider,
I love how you say things outright. You are one of the most real people I have talked to. I remember a month or so ago putting up a post about a "problem" going on in my life. Everyone else said things like "they were so sorry to hear what I was going through", etc. That was nice to hear. But you told me to pull my head out of my ass...so to speak...and to get my shit together. That was awesome! I was acting like a dumbass! When I feel like acting stupid again, I just think of what you wrote and it pulls me right out of my idiocy.

Supplements are outright crap! Thank you for being so real and honest all the time :)_
    • thanks vic!

i like to be peoples 'unreasonable friend'. im the person that will ask 'so what is your action plan?

giving people sympathy just holds em where they are at. when we fall over as toddlers learning to walk, those around us clap and say 'keep trying! keep trying!'. but when we fall over as adults, people say 'oh poor chap, such bad luck...'

when the crap hits the fan, feeling crap about it isnt going to help.so we need to roll our sleeves up and scoop that crap into the compost bin where it belongs. but we live in a society where people are programmed to expect other people to take care of the crap. we are told that we aint qualified to take out the compost. that 'its not the done thing to do'...

when im looking for contrast, i just remember those animals in the slaughterhouses, i remember the 6 year old kids sifting thru trash for 12 hours a day, i remember that im hear to serve and make the world a better place. i remember im in control of my emotions and nobody else is.
  • Mark,

Yup thanks to people like you and others who are speaking out and exposing these snake oil pimps and there magical factory made powders for only $##.##.

I remember wolfie boy talking about it is bad that food shouldn't come out of factories etc. Yet this guy does the opposite opps did I type that.

Oh I forgot they are not catering to Healthy people they are catering to the crowd that wants to not eat junk but are better off to eat there more expensive junk.

So we can lie and cheat them out of more money sounds better right?

    Slime buckets.
  • supplements are a placebo at best. they can cause more probs in the end than when you started.

i never thought about all the packaging too, and totally agree!
  • I agree I would like to kick them in the nuts lol
  • Wow, this post is a real eye opener. I admit I tried the superfoods (cacao, maca, mesquite) and there they sit in my pantry, can hardly stomach them. But the supplements? Really? Shit can them too, huh? What about coral calcium with vitamin D? I live in the Northeast (NY) and the sun don't shine no year round here. What to do, what to do. Hmmm....
    • I know it's been over 18-months since you posted your comment, but here's my reply regardless:

The quacks and conmen like to push D3 supplements from animals. If you are unable to get good sun exposure, use D2 supplements, which the propagandists and manipulators love to condemn. D2 is the vegan form.

A few years ago, I had a vitamin D deficiency and corrected it using D2 tablets. They work. They may not be as potent as D3 (I can't say for sure) but they are definitely effective; just take a higher dose than you would D3, and every day or two.
      • You can get natural vegan vitamin D 3 supplements although it is from irradiated yeast. The vitamin d2 is mostly made from synthetic GM organisms. So I think I'd go for the natural D 3 , that GM stuff is lethal.

Better to use a sun lamp to generate D3 in winter. I'm going to get one
