YouTube questions

Hey y'all

So I don't understand how YouTube works, monetarily speaking. I've read a bunch of different versions, but don't know what is what.

Firstly, my reason for asking is that I want to help support the vegan channels, and not support anti-vegan ones. Things I've read:

- the channel only gets money if you click on the pop up ad

- the channel only gets money if you view on your computer (not mobile device)

So does that mean any videos I watch on my phone don't "count?"

Do number of subscribers actually mean anything?

Do thumbs up/down actually mean anything?

I usually have a vegan channel running in the background on my laptop pretty much constantly so they get views. But I never click on any ads. Also, if there is anti-vegan video I want to see I watch it on my phone (because I've heard that doesn't get them any money).

I just wanna support all those vegan YouTubers and not give dollars to the anti-vegans!

  • The number of subs is the number of people that love your vids so much they wanna see more of them so they have your vids pop up in their youtube home page!

And the thumbs up and down shows if they liked it or not and the liked vids get showed in their liked vids playlist so it's kind of free advertising for you xD
