South East England :)

Hey everyone,
I thought I'd put up a discussion for anyone in or around south-east England to comment on and get us all together. Maybe we could meet up for a friendly fruity get together at some point.
I live in Hertfordshire and I am personally loving this lifestyle. I've never felt so contented and euphoric in my daily life, and I'd love to meet and chat with some people who understand how I feel.
Like how funny is it buying billions of bananas at a time. Sometimes I say to the cashiers not to tell anyone I have a monkey haha.

But anyway, I'd love to get to know some local fruit lovers, so please get in touch!

  • Hey

Anyone know where I can bulk order tropical fruit? I'm situated on the essex/suffolk border

    Thanks

  • Greetings fellow fruity vegany people :D

I live in Bromley, SE London and am looking for like minded friends.

Anyone interested in meeting up or chatting or whatever let me know, send me a PM/Friend request and let's meet up!

    Lots of love and bananas,

    Phil

  • Hey guys :)
My name's Olympia and I live in London/ studying at Reading uni - would LOVE to meet you fruitbats!

  • Hi, I'm also from this area and visit London quite a bit. I find it difficult to find other vegans in my area and i've never been to a meet up or anything to this is quite an exciting idea. I've been on this lifestyle just about 6 months so i still have a long way to go :)

  • Hi, I'm new to this way of eating and I love bananas so it's all good! Once I discovered I could probably by wholesale and get it delivered once a week, it seemed even more doable.. Wholesale kicks in @ £100 with this organic company and if a few people get together we could get better deals.
I'm in Stroud Glos and would love to meet up.

  • Hi UKRhiannonG,

Thanks for starting this group. I get heartburn now when I leave my current 811 plan (which i still do occasionally after 10 months).  I am wondering if you are perhaps just suffering as your body adjusts to your new fuel intake? Do you get a chance to take exercise as well?

i too use wholefoodsonline and get their freeflow pitted dates in 10kg boxes for £27. these are not organic but if you are keen to watch the pennies they are a great, affordable snack and base for smoothies.

I am based in Guildford and lived around Hitchin for many years so would welcome the chance of a return visit at some point.

I am fed up with this weather now and very envious of harley and freelee in the summer sun. I also find it really hard to ripen bananas at this time of year!

  • from the south east too..although on my profile on here says I'm from sydney ( we can all dream), they have better quality fruit over there :( i have an obsession with dates which i so annoying as there isn't many places that do them other than sainsburys which is the best value for money £2.15 for 200g! my dining room has become the fruit lounge where all my produce is ripening, god knows what people would think if they entered, probably that a monkey lives there! i eat around 4000 kcal's a day I'm really not shy of them especially after not doing this diet right for months and restricting causing me nearly to be admitted to hospital for weigh loss but now on the path to recovery lets hope i can maintain this lifestyle, i know i have alot more learning to do even though i watch hours of lectures and of course all high carb youtubers, my channel is- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_IXhPM3meB9JR3q8NLrDvA i feel like i need to connect with people who are also on this lifestyle that live locally who have some idea of what its like to do in a different country under different circumstances as  the quality of fruit over here isn't as good as elsewhere as well as having some support form people which i don't get from my family!  i have found a local wholefoods and have emailed them to see if i can order in bulk discussing with them that i entail a good proportion of fruits so hopefully they don't just order to big companies , sitting back and waiting for a reply probably won't get one by tomorrow as its sunday :(

    • hey,
i just want to say tesco now do dates in their wholefoods section within the fresh produce. they have 200g organic for £2 or 200g nonorganic for £1. i also get the dried pack of 500g dates from aldi for £1.60ish and those i use to soak and make into smoothies. The non-dried ones i add to banana salads and eat just as they are for snacks.
Also go to your local greengrocers (or as many as you know) and ask if they have any spotty bananas. i now have a deal with my guy who saves them for me and i pop down once a week to pick up a box which he charges me about £2-£3 quid for!

    • I would advise not buying them from any of the supermarket as they are all involved in exploiting they people they come from so badly.. Please check this out http://www.inminds.co.uk/boycott-israeli-dates.php. I order mine from www.buywholefoodsonline.co.uk which are the organic deglet noor variety which work out at around £25-30 for a 5KG box.
