Staying positive through injury

Setting goals for our sporting endeavors is a double edge sword, it give you a reason to haul your carcass off the couch of doom, but when injury crops up, it is a real blow to more then being ready physically for something.

 I find  it stalls me even in other areas of my life, because training is part of the whom that I am and I am wondering if that is particularly healthy as I find when I cannot run, or be be active, I get down.

 How does it affect you guys?, and is it a good thing to need to have an identity as an athlete, give you a sense of achievment, or sense of accomplishment
