Getting enough protein

Hi there, I am a newbie, I've started 2 weeks ago, still trying to transition.  Can I ask everyone how do you manage to get 10% protein?

I am eating: Watermelon, melon, lots of bananas, lettuce, mango, dates, cucumbers, tomatoes.  My calories average around 2000 per day, but I can't get enough protein, I am always under 5%

  • Hi, thanks so much for replying, I am grateful.

I believed we needed minimum protein requirements, I am not an athlete at all, I do little low intensity exercise, and no weight lifting,  I am keen on ensuring I get the full 10% protein because I believe it plays a major role in our immunity.  This is not my first go at going fruitarian/vegan/vegetarian, I have done this before many times, and the reason I quit is because I start getting many colds/flue.  I spoke with many others who quit being vegan/vegetarian and they all tell me they did it because they started getting too many colds. I am not debating here, I just want to learn and do this right, I really want to get it right this time.

In any case, the 811 allows us to go up to 10%, so why not, what I wondered is if anyone is able to achieve this and how?  thanks again :)

  • Remember, 10% is a limit.
  • 10% is not a target, it's a limit  ;)

Juicy fruit is 5-10% protein in calories.
