Raw food preparation and appliances

so Im guessing that alot of other college students struggle with a lack of kitchen space and fancy appliances. i am fotunate enough to have a standard juicer and a small food processor, but i still struggle to make some raw food recipes because i simply dont have the money for better equipment. has anyone else run into this issue? any solutions?

  • o.O What an odd question for this website. Most people here dont "prepare" anything. Almost all of your calories should come from fruit, with maybe a large lettuce salad for dinner. Gourmet raw food is usually high in fat, especially if its mimicking foods you used to eat before going raw (pizza, pasta, crackers, etc)

The beauty of being a fruit eater is its simplicity. All you need is maybe a knife to cut open melons, peel fruits etc, a spoon, and some plates or a cutting board to catch the juices. Kayla's doing it right. Just eat mono meals and youll be great!

  • I live off-campus so it's a bit easier for me, but I am nowhere close to getting a dehydrator or anything like that!! One thing I really do recommend is the Magic Bullet. I mainly use it for smoothies, which is excellent, but it is pretty strong for something that small, so I'm even going to try making frozen banana whip =) I live in Eastern Canada so it's not that easy to get fresh fruit, but I do what I can!

  • I pretty much just have bags of fruit everywhere. I have a blender but no sink in my room so I have to go to the dorm kitchen. I have a small fridge which doesn't hold much. I just can't wait to go home to a full kitchen as well =). Lol, I just thought how no other college kid would care about having the kitchen like we do =)
