Durians in Costa Rica

Has anybody knows where to get or when they starting?

We heard some individuals may grow them. We know one who has few trees of wild durians in Upala, but trees still too young.   Actually he sells his land with a lot different trees. Contact me if you interested :)

  • about 3 years ago had my first durian (no joke bloke !!) "OFFERED FOR FREE"at a local organic market called "el Trueque" held every Saturday morning from 06 to 11 am near San Jose.
The "abundant Durians" came from Talamanca (if remembering correctly)...it was around the beginning of the year...
    • sometimes there is a short additional season in FEB/MAR. This year, too :-)

Someone who knows well about the durian trees in the region told me that this additional season is 2 or 3 times in a decade.

I guess the additional season is over in around 3 weeks.

    • Ye Konstantin is right... from August...   interesting info anyway :)

  • Hi, my girlfriend and I know the farm very well cause we lived there several weeks. The fruits (not the Durian, not available) were great but we didn't like the area.

The guy of the botanical garden close to Puerto Viejo (southern caribbean cost) told us Durian is ripe from August to November and in his region are several durian sellers.
