easy hair pomade

hi! does anyone have an easy hair pomade recipe? i have very straight hair, in a pixie cut and need a natural pomade/gel type recipe to sort of give me some body and structure. aloe is great for about an hour and then doesn't get the job done. coconut oil gives a little definition but leaves it limp. i know there are products out there with tons of ingredients but i don't want to use them anymore.any suggestions?

  • olive oil...

  • Coconut oil!

  • I've heard about using flax seeds, grind them up, add water and heat, but you should look up the recipe to be sure. Makes sense since flax ground flax seeds are a binder.

    • that's interesting. it sure is sticky, i'll try that! thanks.
  • Aloe vera gel.  Look for a brand without additional ingredients or you could even grow your own plants.

    • thanks. i grow aloe and it works great for about an hour or two, then i guess it gets absorbed into my hair and my hair is all flat again. going for a more rustled outta bed look, maybe i should mix it with something.
    • was thinking some more about this, and mango kept coming to mind.

it's sticky and turns gel-like in a pie, for instance.  But it would seem to leave some unsightly orange particles in your tresses :)

      Then I found this:

      http://www.amazon.com/Raw-Mango-Butter-16-oz/dp/B000W0HA7Y

After just a glance, it appears to be vegan, though you'd have to do your own research and decide if it's a wise thing to apply to your hair.

    • oooo, that's interesting. i will definitely look into this. even the straight mango is an interesting angle. thanks so much!
