Benefits of being makeup-free....

Personally... - clearer skin with a natural glow - more confidence - no more time-wasting infront of the mirror - a new level of respect from other men & women - a feeling of liberation & exhilaration - no planetary resources being abused - compliments on my 'guts' - freedom from mainstream ideals - not supporting big corps - no animals being exploited or habitat-destruction supported - more acceptance of my physical self - more time - more empowered - truth.

  • I couldn't find this thread the other day. I wanted to post a link of these young girls in a high school that were starting a makeup free club. I hope it catches on to others.
  • -no clogged up pores
-no toxic chemicals leaching into your bloodstream eww!
can you believe people used to put lead on their faces? now i'd say it's only one step away from that...maybe not as bad as lead but some of the stuff in there is just worrying.
  • wow, so glad to hear, that. i get compliments too, and i rarely wash my face, it just gets wet in the shower. i don't spend anytime scrubbing it or putting anything on it to wash it, i do mosturize once in a while when i remember to.
  • -not eating lipstick all the time
  • My beloved grandmother used to put makeup on every day and I used to talk with her while she did it. It took a very long time, at least an hour, to do it all. She had a magnifying mirror and stood in front of another mirror, all sorts of containers & gadgets... interesting to watch as a child.

She used to tell me not to ever get into the habit of wearing makeup. She saw it as a sort of slavery in a way. She said that once you start using it regularly you get used to seeing yourself like that and can't deal with seeing yourself without it, then you're stuck. She said it messed up her health and skin and pointed out those sorts of things to me. She also showed me similar things about high heels (she had to wear high heeled slippers 'cause of the shortening of her achilles), and nail polish (her nails were all ridged and yellow under the polish from no air and years of polish).

I just loved her so much, miss her. I'm so grateful she helped me avoid making the mistakes she felt she did and helped me to do as she says rather than as she does...
  • I agree with every comment Lolita - more money for fruit & travel, amen!
