another Hello

Hey there! It's good to know that there are other Romanians out there following a healthy life style.I'm originally from Constanta, but I've moved quite a lot in the past few years (Cluj, Cardiff, Sussex, London and now Surrey).I've been a vegetarian for about 2 years; mostly vegan (90%). I've been having my ups and down trying to follow a LFRV lifestyle, but since January I've committed myself to eat mostly fruits. I've been very enthusiatic about this and I can say that I've influenced quite a few people in this matter. I've eaten fully raw for a while, but recently I've reintroduced some cooked foods in my diet, but mostly because of my social life. In my case, that is the main issue - dealing with people (I go to quite a lot of social events and it's not polite to refuse people and be fussy about the food). I'm sure there are other vegans having the same problem as me. There are also other problems that I'm facing, like not being sure about this life style anymore, perhaps some weight gain etc, but I'm sure these may be part of the detox. This message was meant to be a 'hello' message but it turned up to be quite long. It would be nice to get to know you :)

  • Hey there Laura, Great to meet you :D ! Congratulations on your persistence with the lifestyle especially when you are moving so often! ;)

I can to a large extent relate to your peer pressure issue…I have been working in the kitchen and behind the bar in the last year so i have been continuously faced with series of questions and endless debates.

In my case it worked out wonderfully as i managed with time to change the views of those @ me and even influence some to introduce more fruits and vegetables in their daily meals..

In the case of social events If you would have the possibility to inform people beforehand of you preferences i guess there would not be a problem to find something for you… at least here in Denmark it works wonderfully :P

About the weight gain issue…. sleep, water and salt intake play major roles as well...

And with time if you experiment enough you will find the right balance for your body and the excess will fall down but keep in mind it is a long process so no need to stress about it on a daily basis :P

What are your plans for the summer? Going back to Romania? :)

    • Hello Cornelius! Thank you so much for your warm welcome and for sharing your experience. Are you eating fully raw now or rawtill4? For how long have you been on this lifestyle?

Well I wouldn't say I'm persistent at all; lately I've broken a lot of the 'rules' just because of other people; which makes me feel guilty. But I know tomorrow's another day and I can get back on the 'waggon'.

I've also done some kitchen work and to be honest it was quite difficult .. but at that point I wasn't so 'obsessed' with eating healthy.

I'm glad to hear people are quite understandful in Denmark! I quite admire your attitude regarding facing this issues. I suppose this is a journey for all of us.

Well at the moment I haven't got many plans for the summer; but I am going to Ro for Easter. How about yourself? For how long have you been in Denmark?

    • It´s been 4 years already since I moved up here so I got quite used to the new place. :P

I´ll be back in Ro from May and on throughout the summer so if you happen to come by maybe we should try to set up a gathering event and try to promote the lifestyle a bit. :)

There will be a Raw Expo on the 11th of May this year if you would be interested in attending… i´ll send you a message with the link. It should be quite interesting :D

I turned vegetarian @ 2 years ago and then slowly transitioned to vegan in the first 6 months. I have been eating 100 % raw for 3 months but as many other raw eaters i was basing my diet on fats and that didn´t work so well for my blood. From February I am eating fruits up to dinner when i incorporate a warm HCLF vegan dish just to be able to keep up the calories.

I wish i could have access to so many ripe fruit so that i could eat only a fruit-based diet but unfortunately the environment only allows me to have a "Banana Island" once in a while (Which I find very refreshing and helpful!)

What do think is the toughest commitment that you had to make in relation to following this lifestyle?

What is the thing you are struggling with the most at the moment? :)
