Discernment of the spirits

Hi everyone,

I recently watched this documentary, in it Mel Bond talks about his gift of discernment, he sees evil spirits on people, prays for them and makes them go away, he believes the root of peoples problems, health lets say are because of these evil spirits around us. I have health issues at the moment and I am wondering do I have evil spirits around me? I was wondering could anyone shed some more light on this subject.

  • I attended a freedom in christ course in my church and it helped me to understand a lot of thing.
Read the bondage breaker and victory over the darkness by neil anderson . It will enlight you for that matter.
  • "So all combined I now know the occult is very real and messes with lives like you wouldn't believe was possible."

Oh yes, I would and do believe ;)

Thanks for your reply, I already started to dig into the demonbuster site. So much to do, read, heal, pray. Well, ask and it will be given - and with the site also a lot of videos came up about that topic and I am getting a bit flooded with information. Glad to meet people who have and are experiencing similar things like I am.

  • I wonder if it is actually the aura he sees. Every living being has an aura, our energy. I wouldn't worry if there is some evil spirit. In fact all the more reason to seek God. His power blesses you if you ask for it and through Him you can make evil spirits leave. A person with a rich relationship with God is looked at as a pillar of fire to those dirty spirits. They will flee from you. Ask God to purify your spirit, forgive you, and with His authority (no fear) in your words tell them to leave. Get behind me Satan. Jesus is the true strength. Let his Light shine in you.

  • A question to both of you. Casting them out in the name - which might mean something like essence - of Jesus. I know that. But what do you do when you do it? I managed it a bit of my own, but someone else describing the process would be very helpful for me I think, like what words do you use, what intentions and feelings, ... whatever comes to your mind.

  • Hi Sabine. I actually think they do matter, too, and have spent some time studying demonology because they have affected my life a bit and made several overt attempts to take over my body. My point about the power was, that yea, we have the authority to do it, but we haven't moved any mountains yet. And if there are demons so powerful that even the apostles have to pray and fast to get rid of them, where does that leave us non-apostles? The best metaphor I ever heard for trying to take on the Devil as a human is like shooting rubberbands at a battleship.

So, the Devil, bound? But isn't there evil everywhere still? Well the parable about the strong man's house. The parable seems to be talking about how to rob a man of his goods. But Jesus would never do that. He never stole or took things from people and so just what is he talking about? Well we know that our Messiah considered the Devil to be the ruler of this planet(his house).  And that the prize for him is us( we are the goods). Namely corrupting us from the path of God into his realm. His house is this planet. Now see the stage? Who wold possibly pillage the Devil's goods from his house after binding him up so that he cannot stop him? Well, Jesus came in, bound the Devil up by defeating him on the cross, and started liberating us from his influence. He could not banish demons from people if he did not first bind the Devil. There are several parables he shared trying to explain this.

The problem is a millennial one and the reason this is not shared amongst mainstream evangelicals is that it sort of negates the idea of pre-millennialism.

  • Two different christian sources following the question if a Christian can have a demon:

    http://www.propheciesofrevelation.org/battle1.php

    http://www.elijahhouse.org/topical-articles/topics/can-a-christian-...

So from what I gathered the Christian POV (like more or less all I am writing here) is that as long as you have sin in you, which essentially is everyone, as we are all sinners - Christians included - , there are probably demons in you too, which also implies that most of them don't really matter - like biologically you have bacteria, viruses and even cancer cells inside the body at all times, but that doesn't mean the are any real threat. As the Bible states - and Mel Bond didn't say otherwise, only that he received the gift of being able to see them (and one can believe him on that or not), it is not the power or the doing of Mel Bond that is getting rid of the demons, it is through Jesus, that he is casting them out, which the Bible states every Christian can do. I also heard that casting out demons in "the name of Jesus", that "name" in that context can also be translated as "essence" or something like that, so creating a deep connection when doing so is a good idea (either way). You can do it alone, ask a Pastor or a Christian friend to help you with that and pray for you. While Mel Bond said it is always demons at the root, I wouldn't 100% agree with that. Not everyone who claims to be able to see spirits sees the same thing and this can even differ in people with the same cultural background - assuming Mel Bond can see these things, what he perceives as demon might in some cases actually be a trauma, sin, judgement or something in that direction. At this point this is getting a bit complex as these things are usually interconnected with each other, but getting rid of the root cause is the way to go, so getting help of someone who is experienced in getting to the root is probably a good idea. And since it is a health issue getting checked by a doctor to make sure there is no acute mortal danger first.

    • Hey Sephtan. It's interesting that we have the authority in Jesus name to cast out demons but we are also told that we could move mountains with faith. Yet there is not one example of anyone doing so. Instead with regards to demons there is an example of a demon so powerful even the apostles who have had the greatest known supernatural powers out of all Christians ever besides the Messiah himself utterly unable to remove the demon. They were told that only prayer and fasting can remove certain types of demons. Frankly I think that's the kind of demons we are dealing with in this day and age and quite frankly I think the guy in the OP link is has no unusual abilities, and certainly is light years from being able to do the kinds of things the apostles could do, and even they were unable to wave a magic wand to dispel a demon and were never moving mountains, being yet the greatest disciples of Christ to walk the planet. Also the new testament has a bunch of stories of demons. It's interesting that the phrase "demonic possession" is apparently not a very accurate translation in the Greek, and the word "demonization" would be more appropriate. I don't see how you could be a Christian and deny the reality of demons, but I also would not blame them for anything. The Devil was bound and imprisoned by the Messiah and so his demons are left wandering without a head and no real direction. If you think the Devil hasn't been bound by Jesus there's an interesting discussion!

    • I like interesting discussions, so ... define bound! :) But well, I do believe that demons and the devil can only act according to Gods Will, so I guess that might be what you mean by bound. Spiritual Warfare is the main research I am doing in Christianity as it seems to be my calling. I have been born into an occult family, more precisely a catholic family which was partly also influenced by the Nazis, one of my ancestors was even beatified by the catholic church, so occultism has been deeply rooted in my family for generations. I have memories from my early childhood being troubled by fear and also spirits, that's the way I always perceived it, not sure if I managed to see them when I was a child, but I could always feel their presence, concerning myself at least, not in others. I am not that long a born again Christian and only in the last few months did I start to feel Jesus protection, which in general makes a huge difference, but not that much when they ... intensive their efforts. As I have just seen your next post in this thread, you mentioned some of the stuff that came to my mind also. As you wrote here, the devil was imprisoned, but his prison is this world, over which he rules, which is also where we live, so I wouldn't say that the demons are without a head and direction. Another thing that came to mind was what Jesus said in John 14:12, that those who believe in Him, will do even greater things than He did - in the context of His statement about demons that can only be get rid of by prayer and fasting, He said that shortly after He just cast the demon out without prayer and fasting, so it is a bit uncertain if that still holds true - and it is also not sure if the one with the demon needs to do the fasting and praying or the one(s) casting him out.

Even though I have been researching the whole subject one way or another for years and also being flooded with information on a spiritual level, I barely beginning to really understand any of it. You wrote you spent time studying demonology, any sources you think might be helpful for my research are highly appreciated. At the moment I am also looking for people who have experience in praying against big strongholds & principalities, as when they intensify their  efforts ... it is no fun and while I know that this is probably just part of my "education", that doesn't make much difference when it is happening. I do have people praying for me, else I would still be in one of those as the last happened only a few days ago, the more the better and maybe getting some insights into the big stuff, would be awesome. If you have a starting point to find someone like that, like a website, also greatly appreciated. :)

    • Thanks for the links, will check them out now.

Always see a doctor ! haha, sorted, thanks for filling me in, good points, understand it more clearly now, just keep praying :)

      God bless :)

    • I actually only get checked by doctors if I am not sure if my life is in danger and just add that part to be on the safe side :)

This video is from the parents of the one who wrote the article in the second link and while not concerning demons gives a good example of root problems from a more psychological christian point of view:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lx0CGN6HZo0

As they write in their books - and they have more than 20 years experience in counseling  - sometimes praying in faith generally is enough to solve something and sometimes the problem only goes away if the root is found and prayed for - but one can also pray for guidance to get to the root.

      God bless you too :)
