THANKSGIVING

I have to say I am really thankful to follow a LFRV lifestyle.

This year, I was able to go to a Vegan Thanskgiving potluck hosted by the university I attend. Although the majority of the food was cooked, I brought a raw zuchinni pasta ( which went over rather well might I say... spreadng the lfrv-ness! ) which I ate, and there wre some great fruit salad dessert options. It was really great to see so many people being passionate about veganism, and nice to be exposed to all of the alternative/ transition options rather than resorting to animal products for ingredients.

For those of your who celebrate, how did you all handle your Thanksgiving gathering this year?

1) What did you eat?

2) Did you bring your own dish? What was it? Did other peolple at it?

3) How did you deal with questioning from others?

4) What do want to do next year?

5) Any other tips :)

Thanks guys!

  • 1) This past Thanksgiving kept it LFRV and made some stuffed tomatoes, a huge colorful salad with fresh dressing, and a raw apple pie with a pear slice crust toped with tart-but-sweet cranberry date sauce, fresh berries, and a few pecans. It turned out really good, and I shared with a few interested people who were pleasantly surprised!

    2) Yes ^ :)

    3) One person asked me " What is your diet?" and I ever-so-casually changed the subject.

    4) I want to try making something with persimmons a soup, and maybe something interesting and savory for the main course, but no concrete ideas yet. It would also be awesome to make a dessert or dish to share, so I will plan for that!

    5) Don't get tempted by the SAD fare: Everyone at my Thanksgiving enjoyed their meals, but many were falling asleep on the couches shortly after ( which is all good, but when its sue to a cooked food coma + stomach aches = no fun). I had some really great fireside converstations with the guests, and listened to some live piano which was really nice. I helped out with some cleaning and serving if needed, and most importantly let thanked the chefs and hosts for having me, and complimented the beautiful table settings and decorations.

Hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving! We all have SO much to be thankful for.

  • I just had thanksgiving dinner at home with my mom and brother (who are vegan/vegetarian) and after two raw thanksgivings already, they are very supportive of my lifestyle choices. I helped my mom make a vegan thanksgiving meal for her and my brother, and then I made my own raw dinner.

    First course - A apple/banana/date/cinnamon smoothie.

Second course - A large salad: romaine lettuce, cucumber, and leek with a dressing of fresh tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh basil, and black olives.
