beginner yogii

Hello Everyone:)

Is it okay to practice different types of yoga over a span of a week for a beginner? My school offers Sivananda yoga and Vinyasa yoga once a week which is free because it's part of my gym membership there. But i was thinking of going to this yoga studio near me that offers Bikram yoga too. It's pretty expensive to go no matter how you pay for it (yearly, monthly, weekly, per session) even with the student discount. So i only would go once or twice a week. But I really want to practice yoga at least 4 times a week if not more.

If you could explain what the difference of each one is too that would be helpful:) All i know is that Bikram yoga is in a really hot room.

Thanks!

  • There is absolutely nothing wrong with practicing different styles of yoga! It's important to find which style you are most comfortable with.

Personally, I practice vinyasa flow, which is fast paced, challenging, and very strengthening. The poses flow together, almost like a dance sequence. If you are looking to get your heart rate up, strengthen your core, and become more flexible, all while being challenged, I'd recommend vinyasa. :)

Here is an awesome article that explains all of the different styles of yoga.
