Moab Utah

It's rock climbing season here in Moab.  Anyone coming this way?  I am an aspiring raw vegan, and my hubby is a carnivore.  I would love to introduce him to a strong, happy, healthy climber. He doubts this diet so much.  He's a 5.11ish climber and I'm a 5.9ish (on a good day) climber.  We have a three year old daughter.  He's a trad climber and could take you up a tower, or we could boulder at big bend.

  • Moab, Utah. Sweet!!! I heard this is another must-visit-climbing-heaven. I definitely will love to visit someday. Right after 4 months on 811, I went back to rock gym first time after a long absence about 3 years. It only took me 3 months to gain back the strength that I have lost. (about 5.10b c ish indoor) And luckily, I finally got a chance to climb outdoor with real rocks last July and able to conform that I actually can climb 5.10s. Now I am truly attached to rock climbing and I swear I won't quit again! I recently only clean led a 5.11a sport once and don't have a chance to try out all 5.11s yet. And, I also just gathered enough trad gears for a rack and plan to multi-pitch Yosemite this summer yay~ The point is 811 WORKS. Give me more time, I can proof it to your hubby :)

    • SOUNDS GOOD. LET ME KNOW WHEN/IF YOU CAN MAKE IT OUT.  SPRING AND FALL ARE MOST BEST!  I LOOKED AT YOUR PHOTOS AND ONE OF THEM LOOKS PRETTY SKETCHY, THE SCARY START.  IT LOOKS LIKE YOU HAD TO STEP OFF THE LEDGE (WHERE YOUR BELAY STANDS), AND CLIP IN TO THE WALL IN FRONT OF YOU.  AM I SEEING THIS RIGHT?  WAS YOUR BELAYER ANCHORED? (PLEASE SAY YES). ALSO, THE GRANITE PHOTO LOOKS LIKE SOCAL, DON'T KNOW WHY.  WHERE DO YOU LIVE?  I GREW UP IN CALIFORNIA.

    • Sounds good. After I have gained more experience from CA, I definitely will pay you a visit. Yes, my belayer was anchored into two anchors. The sketchy route is all mental. Even though the route is rated 10a I felt the holds are big enough to be a 5.9 line. I live in the Bay Area, Fremont to be more specific. I haven't climbed at Socal yet. Joshua Tree is absolutely in my list. :)

    • COOL MAN. KEEP IN TOUCH.

RED ROCK RENDEZVOUS IS COMING UP IN VEGAS, NV.  THEY HOLD CLINICS THAT ARE REALLY GREAT. IT'S A FUN TIME. YOU SHOULD LOOK INTO IT.

ALSO, ONE OF MY FAVORITE R.CLIMBING BOOKS IS WRITTEN BY ARNO ILGNER (I TOOK HIS CLINIC A FEW YEARS BACK).  IT'S CALLED THE ROCK WARRIORS WAY, AND I THINK YOU MIGHT ENJOY IT)

      HAPPY SENDING.

    • Cool~ Thanks for the info. I will look into it.

Happy sending to you too. Stay raw and strong :)

BTW. I am going to master the kid's technique at the left :)

    • LOVE IT!

OLIVE (MY 3.5 YEAR OLD) IS GETTING HER FIRST STICKY RUBBER SHOES THIS SPRING!

  • Hey Ali! I am out of the country right now, but I have a few friends out west (I am from Arkansas) that I am dying to visit when I get back in the summer. I hope to make Utah a part of that trip, whenever it takes place. I will let you know if I am coming through the area! Would LOVE to climb some of that beautiful orange rock, and would also love to meet other climber fruit monkeys. :)

    • LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU'RE HEADED THIS WAY, I'D LOVE TO MEET UP.

IF YOU DO COME IN THE SUMMER CLIMBING MIGHT NOT BE THE BEST, UNLESS YOU'RE INTO THAT KIND OF THING (IT GETS UP TO 110 DEGREES).  MY HUSBAND IS A RIVER GUIDE IN THE SUMMER WHICH KEEPS HIM PRETTY BUSY.  MY DAUGHTER OLIVE (3.5) AND I HAVE A LITTLE RAFT WE TAKE ON THE RIVER THAT ALWAYS HAS ROOM FOR MORE.  JASON (MY HUSBAND) AND I ARE CELEBRATING OUR ANNIVERSARY SOON AND HE'S GETTING ME A S.U.P BOARD!

I'LL BE AROUND AND I'D LIKE TO MEET YA.

      ALI
