Burning calories

Maybe the answer its simple but I just haven't figure it out yet.

Isn't better to run in the evening (after 6pm), so the calories consumed during the day are burned out and there is no fuel to convert in fat or storage during night time?

  • So, then you wouldn't refuel after that evening run??

I like to eat in response to activity. So, I like to think of it the other way: Eat to recover. Eat to refuel. As opposed to engaging in physical activity in order to burn calories. I'm active because I enjoy it, not because I'm trying to burn calories.

When I'm not in an active state (relative rest), I want the best fuel available for muscle recovery. Particularly within the two hours after physical activity.

And if consumption is biologically appropriate (HCLF vegan, I would say), then you don't have to worry in the least about excessive fat storage.

    • Hi Jim,

well, I've being practicing sports since I was a kid. Right now, the second sport I like the most its running being calisthenics the first one.

I was just thinking about the results of switching the time. If there is no notable difference, I'll continue running in a fasted state, because that's what I like. Although what I did in the evening runs was to refuel just with salads, 2 hours before going to bed. Honestly, I wasn't feeling bad or strange but either I was feeling as good as in the morning.
I guess, by doing what I did, speaking in a long term, it wouldn't help me… Recovery is more important than the training. I agree there!

Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.

      Cheers!

  • It doesn't matter. At the end of the day, the calories that you burn in your run will be the same, whether you do it in the morning, or in the evening.

I like to run in the morning, in a fasted state. But I don't do it for any particular reason (well, becoming fat adapted is great), I just feel best doing it on a completely empty stomach.

  • Don't worry about burning calories! A high carb vegan lifestyle will keep you trim! Run to enjoy it not burn calories!
    • Sure!

I've been running for many years.

I was just wondering if switching the order will improve results.

      Cheers for the CARBS UP!

  • I find it better to run after fasting. Theoretically this gets me into fat burning mode. I eat after running to recover. I have been pleased with my long-term results.

  • You need calories to sleep, to function optimally while you sleep, etc.

    So specifically to your question.....no.

    • Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Could you suggest any book? I heard in one of DurianRider's videos the name of a book, but I can't find that book. The author, I believe, was a triathlete known very good.

      Thanks in advance

      Cheers!
