Name: Lynne Riday Reiter Hello, I am a 59 year old female. Average weight until I gave birth to three great kids and gave in to cravings for fat and salty foods. Back and forth between vegetarian, SAD, and vegan for twenty years. Gave Atkins a sincere try year before last. I did lose some weight with and felt better, no doubt from increase of fresh veggies and less junk food. Got addicted to bacon and sour cream with heavy cream. (Blush!) Greatly aggravated my arthritis. Even bought a walker, and was afraid I was going to not be able to work soon. I was getting tired of eating dead animals too. Chicken breast is not denture- wearer friendly! Started researching and saw an article that stated reducing meat intake can help with arthritis. Meat is acidic and I needed alkaline foods. So I studied about those. I noticed that fruit, forbidden In phase one of Atkins, was calling loudly to me from the produce isle. I knew I needed to have them, so out the window went Atkins. Started reading up on raw and learned about green smoothies from "Green for Life", and a few weeks later saw Dr. G on YouTube. Bought the book, almost finished reading the testimonials.Been pretty close to following it I I feel very good. My knees are hurting less. My heart rate is slower and not erratic. I am down to 177 as of today. Was stuck at 183 for the longest. I am feeling like I will get back in shape with this lighter way of eating.I feel more upbeat. Dr. G. is inspiring me with his fitness 'antics'--lol, on YouTube. A Facebook group called "Raw Foodie Friends that I like has a leader that warned me away from 80/10/1/, but, since I am feeling good, I will stay with it and look forward to my medical checkup stats next month. I found out about these boards from the book and I wanted to see if Dr. G. is still posting. I am delighted to see that he still is. I plan to see who else from the book is online and has relevant websites. Dr. G., thank you for your work. I look forward to being part of this forum.
