I'm Mikaela! I'm 17 and I've only recently (in the last 2 months) become a vegan following watching iiincredible videos such as 101 Reasons, The Best Speech Ever and being influenced by the incredible vegan community on Instagram! As I'm still at a boarding school and living with my non-vegan family the rest of the time eating has been a bit harder for me, as has getting my friends and family to accept my veganism. However, since becoming vegan I can honestly say that my life has completely changed: I'm so much happier and feel like I have a true purpose in life (cliché but completely true). The only thing I would say I struggle with is having to accept the ignorance of others towards what it is to be vegan, and not to get too annoyed with how our society treats/thinks about animals and instead focus on how great it is that so many people are so passionate about veganism. I would love to try raw till 4, however being at boarding school for most of the year prevents me from doing this for now. Welll, that's my 'vegan story' I guess... but I'm also a passionate reader, cook and hope to become a cardio-thoracic surgeon one day!

My favourite books/movies/authors/pastimes are...

I loooove dystopian novels like The Hunger Games (very cliché, I know) but I also love John Green, David Nicholls, Albert Camus, Malcolm Gladwell, Khaled Hosseini and more, so basically if it's a good book I'll read it! I like a lot of films so it's hard to pick a couple but one that comes to mind is Good Will Hunting. I love to see new places and meet/help new people so I travel and volunteering as much as I can. I cook/bake ridiculous amounts and spend most of my time looking for new recipes to cook on weekends.

The Frugivore started this site to bring together frugivores across the Globe! Let us know what high fruit assistance do you need?

I would love to be able to talk to like minded people as I only know two other vegans! Where to buy ripe fruit, dates etc in bulk (in the South East/London/Brighton preferably)!

The Frugivore Diet is a fruit-based vegan internet community which promotes a high carb fruit based vegan lifestyle free of any animal products.
