I am a gal from the South in the U.S.A but in no way does that make me your typical "southern girl" :) I grew up eating the ever present S.A.D diet and thought it was just the way things were. I can even remember my grandmother (who had animals growing up in Tennessee) telling a story once about how she hated seeing her father ring the necks of chickens for dinner outside from the kitchen window. The story made me cringe yet I had the typical mental disconnect when it came time to actually eat chicken and other meats. Thats just what was done, as I'm sure many many people can relate to. Everything was fine so I thought until I turned 21. I was drinking and smoking and working a good bit. I was unhealthy and stressed and noticed pretty severe constipation began happening to me quite regularly. Along with the digestive discomfort, I began to have bad acne on over my face especially my cheeks. This seriously freaked me out because I went through all of puberty not having more than a blemish here or there that would go away quickly. I had been introduced to kris carr's crazy sexy cancer documentary and that really turned me on to the power of natural healing, and the whole concept truly resonated with me. Now my parents, while I was growing up, didn't eat or cook red meat..only chicken and fish..So while this was still wrong and ill informed, there were trying to be healthier and instilled the importance of health into me from a young age. I moved away to San Diego, California at age 22 and while I wasn't completely vegan yet, I did eat a whole lot less meat, exercised more, and being in all of that sunshine and salty air helped my health a great deal. I already had found Freelee and other vegans on youtube and always enjoyed watching videos, but wasn't quite ready for whatever reason to make the complete switch. I moved back home to Alabama this past year to finish school and be closer to family for a while, and I have really decided that being a HCLF vegan is something I want to be dedicated to for life. For the animals and for my health.

My favourite books/movies/authors/pastimes are...

I wish I was more of a reader! I actually love reading vegan books as terribly cheesy as that sounds. I have most of the e-books/physical books of my fave you tubers plus more. I do love any book that is inspiring, magical, and creative. I have a huge imagination so I love when I read something that really takes me places. Harry Potter of course of course. I love some classics as well such as Far from the Madding crowd and a few Jane Austin things. I am such a movie lover. I seriously have a real love for movies. I love any movie with adventure (favorites growing up were things like The Mummy, Tomb Raider, Planet of the Apes, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, The Jungle Book..list really goes on) Of course I like good romance movies too like a typical girl but they have to have some substance to them. I was lucky to grow up always playing with friends and family outdoors and I still love that to this day. I always feel best traveling, and "playing" outside. I crochet, I sing, I enjoy making food, and being with amazing folks.

The Frugivore started this site to bring together frugivores across the Globe! Let us know what high fruit assistance do you need?

I just need support I suppose! I don't know many people attempting this lifestyle where I currently live. It would be awesome to be in touch with people who have the same and better passion as I do for this way of living.

  • Hey girl! There is a Vegan meet up in Mobile, Alabama that happens on the 27th of this month at a place called ARC Vegan Cafe. http://arcforallbeings.org/vegandiningguidemobile.html - thats their web page. They also talk about how difficult it is to be a vegan in the deep south. But tbh I dont find it that difficult anymore. Everywhere I go, most people (in restaurants) are willing to accommodate me. We have a few really good Thai restaurants that I just love, and THANK GOD we just got a whole foods in MobTown. But i only get Vegan stuff I cant find anywhere else there. I just eat lots of smoothies and sweet potatoes! I commend you as well for being Vegan here. To me the hardest part is the extreme judgement I get at work. Everyone that really knows me, respects me in this aspect and doesn't talk down to me. They ask a lot of questions and thats really nice that they are interested. But still I know it can be such a struggle and enlightened people are few and far between!!!!! But please let me know if you are ever in town!! Im always excited to meet other vegans and share! :)
