Animals are my friends not my food....

Having real quality time in the garden with the chickens im looking after here...they are so gorgeous. When I came to this housesit they were cooped up in a tiny pen with hardly any light & the cage is like 1metre by 1metre....outside this pen is the most wonderful garden...I immediately opened the gate, they needed to stretch & flap those wings....I decided if they flew out or got out somehow then ...so be it (ofcourse i would try to find them!!) but anyway that's what i concluded... Anyway their first outing was real tense....they (like us humans) are conditioned to stay in their 'box' or comfort zone.....first they would ever so slowly poke there heads out the cage and look around, one was about to step out and got a fright & disappeared back to safety...sort of like us when we are challenged - instead of facing our fears and embracing change we sometimes tend to hide and 'play it safe'.....anyways they eventually after a good 1/2hr they came out, very tense on high alert after a good while started to relax. Over the next couple of outings they were dust-bathing and really starting to get the hang of this 'freedom' thing and I was loving witnessing it...was tear worthy seriously. At first they were scared of me & would run for cover whenever i was near... Its now been several weeks and the last couple of days get this...they have been FLYING over to me!! Its sooo beautiful, they land at my feet, I sit with them and eat my meals and they just hang around me! Its really quite surreal, i feel such a connection to these lovely beings....another confirmation why I am vegan, they are my friends, i love them i really do, i don't want to eat them, i want to know them...and connect with them and I see it in them with me too, its a lovely feeling... we don't realise our potential till we leave our 'box' and really start 'flying' & living & feeling.....no more comfortable numbing, feeling is where the growth is.....and fruit not friend is where the foods at....

These pictures are my family first picture is my pup (Houser), my pup 2nd picture (Mickey), and last one is (Kiya) my dads dog she is just sooooo amazing...I love her with all my heart...she was a rescue animal: Our old roomate had her and he never fed her, never spent time with her, and just flat out didnt seem to want her sooooo....I kicked him out and took his dog...I know not very nice but she deserved a better life...we already had too many animals so I gave her to my dad who had recently divorced. I can tell she thanks me everytime she sees me. : )

  • Mark,

He is and his nature is amazing.

We have many who love to come by and see him when they come over.

He sit's on the couch on his but and we munch on some grapes together.

He loves my wifes vegan soup. lol

  • animals have the capacity to love. i think the more evolved way in nature is to ditch the eating of other animals and learn to love them!
    • Cool
  • Well for me my buddy is my best buddy.

We play soccer, run and roll around in the grass lol

I do know one thing no person will hurt an animal while I am with them.

I look at them and wonder how people can be munching on their ribs right about now.

My dog loves his fruit that why I say to people he is so cute.

People don't believe he is Vegetarian his favourite food is watermellon.

He greets me like I am Elvis Presley.

  • My msogf has 3 dogs, 3 cats, a horse, a snake, a tortoise, 2 terrapins and 14 hundred fish. It's a bit like an indoor zoo but I find that it's really relaxing. Of course when I go home with all the scents on me it's like my cat did CRACK. He literally hangs on my leg while I walk around the house.

I'll definitely say though that I'm starting to develop a moral aversion to eating animals, and that's never happened before; if anything lack of interest in meat has been a lack of cravings. Interesting how the mind works. Or maybe it's the soul?
