Hey earthlings,

I only eat bananas when they're organic and truly ripe with spots. I don't drink a lot, or any, water or juice before during or after I eat them either.

I mono meal them I still experience pain in my chest...it hurts even more when I exercise after eating them.

Even when I was in Hawaii I was eating all dif types of bananas and I would still feel this uncomfortable sensation in between my chest muscles....weird eh?!

What could be the problem? What could be the solution?

I've tried cutting out bananas from my diet and I only lasted one day!! I was surprised that I actually made it through the whole day too lol

  • Ted,

It is possible that you have a banana allergy, and or that you are not hydrated enough.

Here is a blogpost by durianrider in regards to managing his athletics, hydration, and eating.  If one is dehydrated, eating fruit can make them feel sick.

When to eat for max life performance.

    Peace, PK

  • Dehydration. Some are more prone to the pain you describe than others. A while ago, there was a discussion on the very pain you describe, except it was after eating watermelons. Quite a few members chimed in with similar experiences. Be well hydrated and you are less likely to encounter the problem.
    • wizzin clear every time though + wakin up 2-3 times a night to wizz. + i eat / drink celery for the salts n lately been drinkin like 5 coconuts a day...so i'm getting my electrolytes too
  • ITS DEHYDRATION. Had the same kind of problem. You have to drink alot of water BEFORE you eat. Not during or right after, drink ALOT before. Then went 10+ minutes after your last zip then start to eat.
    • Hmmm, I don't eat anything for the first 30-45min when I wake up, I just drink water first then either coconut water or juice. I'm ALWAYS pissing clear, except first  thing in the morning it's a little straw cause I don't drink during the middle of the night.

I pee like 2-3 times a night too so I know I'm not dehydrated...

  • sounds like you an allergy issue.... I would cut them out for a week or two and then slowly re-add them back into your diet.
  • oh no. i get punch belly too with those fruits if i eat em too fast...but this is different. it lasts like all day and comes and goes...like if i eat a big banana smoothie for breakfast n go run like 4  - 5 hours later i'll still feel it.

haven't had punch belly since i started eating those fruits A LOT slower
